Uh, so I’m in a production of this and my friend plays Mazie. She didn’t give the part enough character. In a show with many lines, it is important to make it sound like you’re really meaning what you’re saying so the audience doesn’t trail off. Another tip is that you have to find what I like to call money words. In every sentence you say in a play, to keep the audience interested, there should be one word in a sentence that is interesting or over emphasized. To find your money word,go through the sentence over emphasizing one word at a time. For example, another line from suessical is “now that is a very unusual hat, I wonder what’s under a hat such as that? It could be a creature they call the Gazat. Or some sort of a kind of a hat wearing… CAT!” You can practice with this line, hope this helps!
