The amount of sugar used was horrendous… just use condensed milk as opposed to all that sugar and runny milk it will give good consistency and serve as a sweetener

I made it today so easy to follow simple ingredients ,I made the babka and keep the other half of dough to make a savory version with a Indian style tuna filling ,with hint of cheese 🧀,let me tell you all my family loved it especially the tuna version ,loved the babka as well.really great recipe turned out great and get creative with the fillings people

I just made this and it was absolutely delicious! The lemon is everything, I added roasted Garlic and didn't use green beans. Instead I just added more mushrooms 🍄 and broccoli 🥦. This recipe is definitely a keeper 💯

My family has been making 'Cucci's for years every holiday season! We are Sicilian 👑. We add lemon to icing and use blonde raisins. No apples 🙄.
I would love to try one from Sicily! I am aware mine are likely not authentic, but I have tried others and in general I love them! I am also aware of the lemon icing but didn't want to take away from other tastes. I keep meaning to try it though! Thanks for your time!

Thank you so much!! The nonpareil sprinkles are traditional to this cookie, but you could use other sprinkles or coarse sugar I'm sure. When I make them just for me, I keep them frozen and cut and bake as I want them and have them plain

What does the corn starch do in this recipe?
Cornstarch makes cookies more tender. Um, odd word for cookies. It shortens the glutens, as when cake flour is used instead of all purpose. If you don't use it, that is fine, you will get a slightly different texture. Many shortbread cookies call for cornstarch for a more delicate cookie, smoother. Most old fashioned, or traditional do not. You could also use cornstarch to reduce the spreading of cookies, like for drop cookies. I hope that is what you were looking for!

Oh thank you! I personally find honey a bit strong at times. You could probably omit the sugar altogether and give it a good press because sometimes it is needed to keep things together. Or sub more honey, it may just be a bit softer, but still good!
