The boy next door
From "Meet me in St Louis", Judy Garland is infatuated with the boy next door- who she has not even met! Brent Edstrom did a lovely Jazz arrangement. I initially thought to make a medley with " Have yourself a merry little Xmas" however at 4 minutes it is best to leave a link to the next video.
Hugh Martin and Ralph Blane.
Pianoteq8 produced the tone.

Benny Cahn/Sammy Carter Another Jazz combo mode- Flute, Sax, Guitar, Bass and Drums A plaintive song, with interesting chords! (I learned a few new ones!) I am bending melody with horizontal touch, and using velocity and aftertouch to alter volume/ vibrato. Keeping things light and breathy. #jazzcombo #bossanova ossanova #ELS02X #electone #electronicorgan

To be honest, the balance on the first version was iffy. I threw the original ELS audio into Cubase and interfaced the ELS02X with an Arturia Minifuse 2 to record some extra tracks- Choir, String, Pipe Organ and even chopped Jane's first Chorus to make a 4th chorus Outro dubbed "Pedal to the Metal" in the spirit of the piece. Jane used the word "Mighty" to describe the ELS02X- I thought it best...

Capturing video with new phone. The Midi file is played back using Pianoteq 8 with a lute clavichord and wohltemperierte tuning a la Lehman. I am trying to capture a period feel- Bach played in a domestic situation. I am playing the prelude "unevenly" as I don't feel for the robotically even versions. Our breathing and our heartbeats are naturally syncopated. The fugue is taken at a stately pla...

Doug Mckenzie paraphrased from Oscar Peterson who performed the Richard Rogers show tune that was written for "Jumbo" in 1935. Doris Day performed this in the film version. The intro is a little random evoking ennui.. I like the varying moods - its not all glum! The Midi was captured via bluetooth as the Roland Fp90 flashes red metronome light whilst recording. Johnny Mandel Wrote this catchy Bossanova, and it was recorded by the late Sergei Mendez Brazil '66. The ELS02X starts simply with Drums, Bass Guitar. As the arrangement builds there is Tenor Sax, Flute, a string section, Organ, backing Vocal, Jazz scat panned R and L (Hi Lani and Janis!) and of course Mr Alpert’s brass at the end.

Thanks very much for your kind words. Bach had two lute clavichords at home - a soft sound very much like a nylon string guitar. It is a very different piece when played without the bright harmonics and timbre of the modern grand piano. So when guitarists play Bach it is actually closer to his "Sound" than the Piano!

Thanks for listening and commenting SatoruSan. I should comment that there are several "classical" motifs here alongside many dissonances that add to the dark mood of the piece. It is spring in Australia (Southern Hemisphere) and I am getting more active! Keep up your great channel giving us lesser known but beautiful classical piano pieces!

Great work Dochama! I really liked your performance on this piece: noble, decisive, intense. Particularly on the fugue which I have always considered very difficult to perform due to the positions that the various voices on the hands have from time to time. The choice of harpsichord is also excellent. Thanks for sharing it.
