What ticket did you purchase for this trrip, was it Flexplus for Priority loading? Tbanks
It was a normal standard rate ticket.
@londonwalker3362 , Thanks, good to know.
Thankyouu verymuchh
Thank you for watching!
really helpful video thank you... im doing this for the first time next month
Thank you for watching. Have a wonderful journey. Good luck! :)
لم أشاهد أي أثر للبحر عبر زجاج القطار ، فالقطار كان يمشي في البر.
Done this going to Belgium through France on a school trip lol
Wow, what an incredible journey! 🚗 The Eurotunnel experience looks so seamless and fascinating. How was the transition between driving in the UK and France with the change in driving sides? Did you find it challenging or surprisingly easy?
7:59 why the road marking say the left lane is for left lane only and right lane is for straight ahead and turn right?
Do they check car insurances or just passport control?
Do you mean the border control officers? They check your passport and visa (if relevant). I think most car insurances in the UK offer some level of European cover, but you should check with your insurance provider before travel. There's also an option to purchase an insurance when booking your train online at LeShuttle website.
Nah...not a complete guide....how to book online is the difficult part..website totally confusing ..
Sorry to hear that. I agree their website isn't really user friendly and they often change the design.
Many thanks for reply ..l will try ringing them tomorrow.. Ricky
Good luck! Hope you sort it out without too much hassle.
What documentation do you need and if you have passengers
When booking online, you need to enter the details of your vehicle and all people travel together including yourself and any passengers, e.g. passport numbers & etc. On the day of your travel at the border control, you should present the same passports (and any sorts of visa or entery permit, if applicable to your nationality) of your own and all passengers that are eligible for EU border entry.
The one bit of advice I would give is, take a Satnav.
I travelled on it about a month ago. LeShuttle to Calais, and about an hour later I was in Bruges. 😎
I wonder why they were putting cars on a single deck train?
I guess it was simply because they had some space left there? :-)
@@londonwalker3362 Possibly, although I've never been put on a single deck train, while driving my car.
Excellent video, thank you so much for putting it together, really good, love the music at the end! When you went through the controls, do you know where the animal/pet control area is please? Thank you
Thanks a lot for watching! Sorry I have no idea as I don't have pets. I found this page from their website. www.leshuttle.com/uk-en/travelling-with-us/travelling-with-pets Hope it helps. :-)
@@londonwalker3362 Thank you. What's the music title at the end of the video driving on the French side please?
It was one of bundle music clips included in the video editing tool, Filmora. When making the video, I remember Filmora didn't give me detailed info such as exact song title, composer, etc. Last night I tried to find a relevant page from their website to let you know, but I couldn't find it probably because I no longer use Filmora (I didn't renew my subscription). Sorry!
I’m going through LeShuttle for the first time and this video will helped me to have an idea how things work I was so stressed Thank you for sharing your journey May I ask what they will check at borders control is it just passports ? Do we need to print anything else ? Also do we need the Crit’Air sticker to drive in central Paris
Thank you for watching. They check passports of the main driver and any accompanying passengers in the same vehicle. I think you don't need to prepare anything else if you hold a valid passport eligible for EU border entry. Sorry I have no idea, as I haven't driven into central Paris before. :-)
yes, you need the crit'air sticker to drive in Paris and the surrounding area (not just central Paris) (except during the night or on Saturday or Sunday)
I used to work for ET and I can tell you, as soon as the traffic is busy, they are absolutely lost et unorganized !
Nice video. What do they ask to see at the border control? Do they ask to see proof of vehicle ownership like v5? Or just passport?
Thanks a lot for watching. Just passport, as they're from Border Control not DVLA. :) I'm not sure whether the vehicle ownership really matters when booking. I don't think so.
Thanks a lot mate!❤
Thank you for watching!
Call that congestion? I had to wait for 2 hours before I got anywhere near check in on the UK side in July. Then had to wait in the terminal building for an hour, and then got to queue again. 😂 All "apparently" because the french border control had only sent two operatives to the afternoon session on Friday.....
Omg! 😂😂😂
Absolute dumpster of an area by 9am already
At 2:22, did this take long? We will start from the other side because we are traveling from Germany to Cornwall. On the UK side, do they have terminals for LHD cars? I realize that there are probably a lot of French and other European tourists heading back.
No, I remember it didn't take too long in that specific queue, but if you travel back to the UK, here is my another video which is more recent - th-cam.com/video/-Bi0MpKMBhU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=AiyIFoP-2d68uSyx There're no particular 'terminals' for either LHD or RHD cars, but border control officers may serve you on your either LH or RH side depending on the queue. For example, at 5:49 cars in my queue meet the officer on the RH side (UK frinedly), but cars in the adjacent queue meet on the LH side (EU friendly). If you can choose a better queue for your car, it'd be perfect. In reality, there're too many cars in long queues, so it's not easy to choose. :-)
@@londonwalker3362 I was originally trying to plan on flying over and renting or you say, hiring an RHD car. But the cost for either parking or a shuttle from home to the airport, flight, and rental car seems like a lot. I'm American and was stationed in England back in the 90s. If I can drive LHR on the left for that long, I can do it for two weeks.
Yes, why not? Have a great travel!
Great video, very informative and straight forward. Thank you.
Thank you very much for watching.
I'm doing this for the first time next week and this has made me feel a lot more confident about the journey!
Thank you for watching. Have a great journey!
Thanks for the video which is very detailed. How long was it from the time you checked it and picked up your ticket to when you departed?
Thank you for watching. I think it really depends on the level of congestion on the day you travel, but I remember it normally took 1-2 hours until I actually got onboard, including all stages of queueing before and after both border controls. I also experienced somewhat severe delay when returning back to the UK several years ago - th-cam.com/video/-Bi0MpKMBhU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=AiyIFoP-2d68uSyx
@@londonwalker3362 Thank you, and is the ticket you purchased, flexible to a certain degree. So if you turn up quite early, do they bump you to an earlier trip, likewise if you're late, do they move you to a later trip. I ask because this service seems to have a lot more convenience than the ferry and with more frequent departures.
In general thay'll ask you to arrive at the terminal and check in within a set time window, normally 1 hour before your departure time. When you check in on the touchscreen, you may be given multiple options to choose if it's not so busy on the day of your travel. If it's congested, you may be given only 1 option. Yes, you can purchase their Flexi+ pass if you want to be allocated to any earlier or later trains with priority.
UK sticker magically appeared.
THANKS A LOT for sharing this ! very helpful
Thanks a lot for watching!
Thanks for the helpful details. New travel can be anxiety prevoking! Excellent
Thanks a lot for watching. Have a great travel!
At around 6 minutes, what do you need to show/hand in to the UK and French border controls?
Passports of your own and any other people travelling with you by the same vehicle
Nice can i get ur num
Thank you so much. Your video makes me decide between ferries and train!
Thanks a lot for watching. Have a great travel!
Notice how in UK the road markings largely erased. Scruffy and run down.
I've done this before but suddenly had a bout of anxiety to go with it. Really helpful video. Just wanted to say I appreciated the editing effort that has gone into this. Fantastic pause moments with very clear indications of what to look for was so helpful. I can understand how much work goes into this and just wanted to say I appreciate it.
Thank you very much!
nice video, well done. But I don't get it why go by car, if there are planes? I rather fly from Germany to London 50 minutes, instead going this long and annoying process with all the steps. On the plane I always relax with a nice drink. Going by car is work 🤣
Probably because some people like driving and going on road trips?
@@tommyprior_ I know that some people like it. But I can not understand why 🤣 what are the benefits of this? I don't see many
@@chelovskiy Take all the luggage you want, includes 9 people in the price, flexibility. Travelling by plane has plenty of annoying steps too... get to airport hours before, check-in, security, wait, wait some more, run like hell to board, board, drink your sorrows away, land, passport control again, hunt for your luggage (hopefully it went on the same plane as your) etc etc. ;-)
@@therealgraeme I am traveling by plane practically each month for many years all over the world and I can tell you, that I don't go many hours before flight to the airport. If you have lot of experience, you know all the steps and hidden hints, that are making your flight experience easier. Then I go often business class, because sometimes it's almost same price, like economy flex, or even cheaper. But 90% of people don't know it, because of lack of experience. And I never lost my luggage and I enjoy all the process. From the Checkin, to the business lounge, the flight and the service and so on. And while flying I enjoy my vodka, or whiskey relaxing and having great time, instead of working while driving hours, which makes no sense at all.
@@therealgraeme and by the way, how much luggage do you need? I mean, I am travelling all the time and I need not even 20KG. Very often I take only hand luggage.
When I'm coming back home from my grandparent's house, I go this exact route:)
Thanks a lot for watching!
You passed my house :) Also you basically walked the bus route that i get home from school.
That's awesome! Haha. :-)
Great video, makes it seem so easy after watching it. Thanks it was a great help
Thanks a lot for watching. Have a good travel!
Excellent video idea
Many thanks
Thank you for watching!
Oh for the days when we still had bus lanes in Lower Road 🚌✅ not cycle lanes 😢🙄
The Eurotunel UK terminal is not in Dover but in Folkestone (Cheriton)
Thank you for raising that. Fortunately I've done correctly in my later videos - th-cam.com/video/xgRaw4lz0Rc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=XS0vWwlnqRV13bV- and th-cam.com/video/-Bi0MpKMBhU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=07vtlUBZhmXm-mgn
When are we allowed to have some drinks or food? Is it after check in and before border control?
Yes, you can use various facilities in the terminal building after checking in and before the border control.
@@londonwalker3362 thank you. My email confirmation states that we are advised to arrive at least 60 minutes before our departure time to clear check-in and border controls. I depart at 12.46 and need to check in no later than 11.46. If I check in at 11.00 and have a drink afterwards, do I need to pass border control before 11.46 as well?
Well, it's good to check in early enough. After checking in and having some foodies, you can leave the terminal building when your departure letter is called, but when you actually pass the border control really depends on how busy they are on the day you travel. It's not something like you *need to* pass it, but the reality is you simply queue for it. It means that you may spend too long time in the border control queuing if it is hugely congested, but in this case you'd be directed to a later train. In my recent video, I missed my train but I was able to return to the UK anyway. FYI - th-cam.com/video/-Bi0MpKMBhU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=cYnBf6WEq0EVlihZ Hope it helps too.
@@londonwalker3362 Thank you again! On average, when is the departure letter called prior to the scheduled time of departure? Let's say the train departs at 12.30PM, check in no later than 11.30PM. When does the departure letter is called?
My pleasure! I still say it really depends on the level of congestion. When it wasn't that busy several years ago, I remember our letter was called in 2-30 minutes after we used the toilet only - I don't think this is the case in August. I would expect minimum half an hour or longer than that in summer breaks. I'm not sure how they have improved their service quality since they rebranded to LeShuttle. If you concern whether you'd have enough time to have meals/drinks, I think you'd be okay. Or grab some foodies as take away to have in your car?
Thanks for taking the time to do this. I’m a visual person so watching the process step by step is much more valuable and easy to remember than just having someone tell me. This will help ease the stress of a tight schedule and first time on LeShuttle next week. One question- 4:42 how do you know when your letter is called? Is it a tannoy or do you have to find some kind of departure board inside?
Thanks a lot for watching. On 4:26 you can see the departure board marked on the left. They have the same one(s) across the parking as well as inside the terminal building. FYI, I have another video which is more recent - th-cam.com/video/-Bi0MpKMBhU/w-d-xo.html Hope it helps, too. Have a great travel! :)
Thanks. To prepare for long queue, better stop at the highway service stations before going to the border. I found below video also inspiring: th-cam.com/video/-25FLLeaxZI/w-d-xo.html
What a waste of time
Thanks for sharing. This really helps first-time travelers to the Eurotunnel. I also found below video very useful: th-cam.com/video/-25FLLeaxZI/w-d-xo.html
Thank you for this! Super useful
Thank you so much for making this video. i suffer with really bad travel anxiety and I'm driving to Switzerland soon! This has put my mind at ease
Thank you for watching. No need to worry too much. It'll be all okay. Have a good travel!
I think it's like 6am so everyone is sleeping
The moment you realise France's roads are much smoother
Thanks , sir, So thats hassle I am gonna face on my way back on 23 july ? I got your point but how much extra coat for Flexi + ?
Thank you! As most UK schools start summer break from the next week or so, I guess many people go holiday from the next week rather than coming back to the UK. IMO your return journey may be okay without Flexi+, but it depends on the traffic on the day you travel back.
Cheers Sir,
