    😢RIP, Bob. (October 1st, 1941 - August 18th, 2024). I was both a faithful listener of Moneytalk and a subscriber to the newsletter for decades. You helped me reach financial freedom by taking me to the Land of Critical Mass. Thank you so much! Condolences to the family.

    Financial talk-radio has an ENORMOUS void, now. I almost had to find a Moneytalk detox- program, when Bob's program ended so abruptly, a few years back. Larry Kudlow's Saturday radio program is ALMOST as good..however.

    In Amazon's early days Bob Brinker would always ridicule them by referring to Amazon as "Amazon.bomb." I don't know whose stock picking was worse, his or Jim Cramer.

    I started listening to Bob in the early 1990s shortly after getting married and starting a family. His advice helped us through the financial ups and downs of more than 2 decades. He was rarely, if ever wrong. So sad that he’s no longer on the air, but I’m ecstatic that he’s still putting out his no-frills MarketTimer letter.

    WOW I stopped listening to Bob about two years ago. I was in the habit of listening to his podcasts every Sunday afternoon, and then I just stopped , lost the habit. For some inexplicable reason, I thought about him today and about focusing on my investment portfolio in this brand new year ,2020; so I went to his online podcast archives and found out that he signed off for the last time on his radio show more than a year ago. I started listening to him in the late 90's on the radio, but since the time that his show was taken off the air here in nYc, I was only able to listen to him sporadically on the internet. Nevertheless, my whole investment strategy was shaped by him and his very sagacious advice. Now that I have been retired for more than three years, I appreciate him more than ever. I feel like I've lost a good friend now that he's gone, as well as a very warm and friendly voice. I listen to a lot of financial shows on the radio, but Bob's was the very best of all of them. I wish him all the best,and I am very grateful for him launching me on the way to "that land of personal financial Nirvana, that land of CRITICAL MASS"

    This is going to be a tough transition. We've developed so much under Bob Brinker's tutelage. Not just sound financial advice, but he has a way of looking at the world that we'll miss hearing. No question that he has helped families achieve 'critical mass'. It’s his term for reaching financial security, individual comfort, self-awareness through financial education. He made us understand......it’s right there if we avail ourselves of it. He never talked down to callers, brought each individual into understanding by emphasizing that we need to make a simple, common sense, time-conscious plan. Best was the call-in aspect, so much is learned from hearing other peoples' stories. Bob Brinker never humbly accepted plaudits without saying...take a bow, you did it for yourself. Everyone Bob's helped should subscribe to his newsletter, he's riding shotgun and can let you know what to watch for. Plus, as a paid subscriber, you can say: "Thanks, Teach". Here's hoping that radio is so in his blood, that Bob will come back, maybe with a subscription podcast.

    This is indeed the saddest news for the longest time! I've been listening to Moneytalk for exactly 20 years (discovered it by total accident on WLS), and got totally hooked on the show and Bob's highly intelligent, non-political, objective style. (I even picked up a whole bunch of Brinkerisms, such as "you are in the catbird seat," "you are in Tap City," "the education of the young sprouts," and of course his signature line / trademark "The Land of Critical Mass"! :-) ) His guest segments were also outstanding. All in all, he'll be greatly missed! (Fully agreed with Dick Longmire; those other hosts are indeed annoying, and often down-right wrong.)

    Listing to today's MT rebroadcast and it made me wonder if there are any 80's - 90's recorded broadcasts out there for some Bob Brinker nostalgia?

    • @eddyvideostar
      @eddyvideostar 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dear Dick Longmire: Speaking of nostalgia, I had recorded a box full of cassette tapes of his shows from the 1990s to around 2004. He seemed very conservative, wanting people to be ultra-safe. He advocated *buying the general markets* and other diversified vehicles. He was the Bible of investing. In 2003, just by doing the basic things that he recommended, the raging bull had plowed through to this day from Dow 6600 to 30,000. I always remember his poo-pooing of books written, titled: _Dow 25,000_ and _Dow 36,000._ Bob, we are here -- and you are gone. This could be an omen for a bubble that Bob doesn't want to pop!

  • @dicklongmire6836
    @dicklongmire6836 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Having listened to Bob Since the early 90's, other financial hosts like Dave Ramsey, Suze Orman and Jim Cramer always irritated me. They are polar opposites of Bob Brinker especially Kramer who always made me feel like I was in the middle of a Shark attack whenever I watch his show Mad Money. Bob taught patience and steadiness over the years and kept reminding listeners it's about getting wealthy slowly. The others always felt like 90's day trader water cooler advise.
