Conversations with an old soul, Caura Valley, Farmer Harry
I made a new friend from the Caura Valley Trini, known as Farmer Harry, very nice old guy, extremely knowledgeable about the forest, loves to cook and share food ( he would say don't come with ration) I spend some time at his location exploring the area and the trail north over the Caura Mountain, it was an extremely great experience exploring this part of the country, i was happy to hear Mr. Harry knew the trial to the Blanchisseuse road from the Caura Valley, i always heard about it and i was ask on a few occasion if i knew the trail and if it still exist, so i know now because Farmer Harry showed the way.
I was introduce to Mr. Harry by a youtuber name Lyndon Batiste,
Farmer Harry is also a youtuber.

You could find Lalaja on the blanchisseuse road not to far from Arima, the road isn't for a car but a good working car will get you in, the roads are dilapidated and muddy , The area is a former agricultural settlement, there are still a couple of gardens and housing, but it is mostly deserted. From the Lalaja South Road you can take the Lalaja Branch Trace to Guanapo or the Lalaja Paria Trail ...

When Government get involved in personal affairs, the boss usually take away everything for himself. So, keep the Government away and develop the tourism by yourself and make it your own. Open a little restaurant to serve them meals and sell nick knacks and folklore things about Trinidad and Tobago and you will make it big.

Wife is shy but yet so sweetly indulges in her own special way. Would love to make my personal trek up this mountain, enjoy the misty scenic view and simply enjoy an encounter with this lovely family. Taking a shower under the galvanize spout in the rainy season, a “bath” with a bucket of water in the outside stall in the dry season, baking bread in the dirt oven, grand mother sewing outfit for Easter sports day, soaking fruits for black cake and stealing a little “pinch” every now and then, everyone walking to the cemetery to bury the dead after funeral Mass and blessing yourself with water before walking back into your house, church bazaars…the list goes on.
