Man, Old Darjiling was calm. New Darjeeling is way too busy! The British high ranked officers came here for a summer vacation for chilling off. Even today people do but that level of relaxation is gone now.
What a lovely bit of engineering!
The 1990's was the best era for the C&TS. I sure do miss it. Great memories though. This video takes me back to my childhood. I can almost smell the coal smoke.
Not past, show present, video, of today.
Wasn’t this shot in 1997? If I remember correctly, this was on Pentrex
Sweet & Steamy.
India has some neat steam locomotives.
Lion of Indian Railways..
Like History in the dark said, the last engine of these war babies did manage to escape being destroyed, and although her sisters are all gone, she’s home, the last of her kind
The most powerful industrial loco in Britain, in terms of tractive effort, she can outdo a black 5
Hi. I'm planning on doing a video about City of Truro's history. Would it be at all possible for me to use any of this footage? Would give full credit to you and provide link to your channel in the video description.
Sweet & Steamy.
I miss those days
Only been 40 years but one could easily mistake this for a century, this was a different time, different world all together.
6:59 8:45 i love the sound of its whistle!
The Saints have got to be one of my favourite GWR steam locomotives
Thanks for an enjoyable episode. A beautiful locomotive! Beautiful environs. Nicely shot!
Morayshire is as beautiful as Mayflower the B1. Sweet & Steamy.
Superb film, a much missed locomotive. Also, black/early crest and carmine and cream coaches - perfection. Cheers and keep up the great work - Alex
Thanks Alex, glad you enjoyed the video. I'm slowly re-editing and upgrading my digital railway video which goes back over 20 years. Also old VHS video going back to 1989 and digitised cine film back to 1972 so there is plenty more to come!
#488 is my favorite steam locomotive. And it’ll be my favorite train!
19 minutes of pure joy - I could go there and not come back.
Sweet & Steamy.
This is going back some. I may not be keen on this engine's shape, but she does have charm. Any news on where she's got to? Is she under overhaul?
I think so. Currently in GER blue as a Class Y14 but I don't know what she is going to come back as!
A VERY nice video!! It was good to see #17. She was the first EBT mike I saw run on my first visit to the EBT back n 1985.
This railway is high on my list to visit, from the preserved railways in the UK where I have not yet had a chance to go. I like this pictured industrial tank engine with the saddle tank. It sounds great too, with that mixed train on the hook. What engine from their shed will replace "Melior"?
The only operational steam locomotive on the line is now the recently restored (May 2022) 0-4-2ST Kerr Stuart 'Premier' built in 1905.
The actual spelling is 'Maerdy'. That is the proper Welsh spelling of the place where the colliery was. In the Rhondda valley of Wales. I really thought they would have used the proper spelling.
7:48 wheel slip
Cute little steamy.
No audio.No sound.
No audio recording with 8mm cine film back then.
Wonderful little engine, great fit on the GW set plus Siphon G as well
Looks like a american engine but streamlined
An era gone by
I like all british railways liveries
Wow what a beautiful moment passing under the rainbow 🌈 🚂
What's not to love about narrow gauge steam engines?
My favorite B R locomotive great video
Was a good day that.
Certainly was!

So lovely to see the tankers out on the line. Even if this was a few years back, the tankers are a lovely sight to see along with a toad van or collet guard coach. Gorgeous shots and lovely day I expect! Now the tankers either work mixed, if there is freight that is, or they sit at Totnes gathering dust. Hope to see them soon! Cheers mate.
🇮🇳💐🍁💐♥️🥰🥰I love you 💐🍁🇮🇳
Beautiful I love 💘 it ❤❤❤❤❤
Nice video! As a volunteer at the Middleton who's first loco shift was working on 1310, I'm always partial to a Y7!
A wonderfully made film of what appears to have been a cold but worthwhile day. Very useful engine, 1450 which is currently down at the Flour Mill under restoration I believe. Cheers and keep up the great work - Alex.
Thank you Alex, glad you enjoyed the video. Yep, it was quite cold!
That since 11 years beginning of March 2013 for average freezing to death 💀🥶
Oh the weather outside is frightful, But the fire is so delightful. Since we've no place to go, Let it snow. Snow & Steam 2023 is the title I'd have chosen, the atmosphere is so magical.
Great video and lovely engines. never personally been to a Gala but as im a volunteer at the llangollen railway and theres one coming up my chance may have finally come
Great Video Paul
