Calling off the spinnet Piano restoration 😔😔
มุมมอง 229ปีที่แล้ว
The spinet piano can be a very difficult instrument to work on. If you were going to restore a piano, I would recommend restoring a higher end piano like Steinway, Baldwin, Kawai, Yamaha, and other brands that are high end this piano that I attempted to restore was a winter musiet New York Toronto.

Thanks for a very educational video. Regards from Antonio, from Goa, India
Thank you very much! This was VERY enlightening, and will help me tremendously! God bless you!
Good info. Always had trouble with the high register.
Man, you're the best, I just bought a spinet piano too it's 2nd hand, and I've been finding videos about upright pianos repair, and you helped me alot
I swear you’re from Mississippi 😂. Your accent is great
Thank you so much for this it really helped me out
Wow, this really sped things up, thanks! Jump to 4:40 to get to the really useful part.
life saver
Nice to see you again working on Pianos/action would like to see more Piano videos and also Piano playing Videos ;)
Also thank´s for showing this tip to us, your Video help me to finnish tunig my old 1920 Uppright ;)
Hello, I've been a follower, this is really a great help for me! Just want to ask a question on what to do if the place where we insert the screw is loose? my screw won't tighten
If the screw will not tighten, the wood is more than likely stripped out you might be able to fill the hole and re-drill. If you have multiple that are loose and will not tighten, you would more than likely need to get it replaced
It's a switch used for detonation. Look in the seat and see if you see 5 long red sticks, resembling road flares.
You ever hear of a Glue brush?
Old toothbrush would also work...
Nice voice and nice playing
For goodness sake have you never heard of a PAPPS WEDGE!!!
I’m dizzy
Just a question what happen with the harmonic? You doing fix that
Thank you.
in which part of US is your accent? thank you
Excellent video Thanks
Hey really bad so see this :( Btw I´m also a Teenageboy that studied the piano, and now I´m building my own piano since may 4 :)
Very impressive. I hope it sounds and plays really good. I would love to hear it play
Well to be honest I just stoped this Project because everything was getting to expensive, Sorry but hey finally I got a old Uppright ;) I hope I will see you with a Piano again@@pianomusicandrepair5840
Hello, I'm a piano technician in Java, Indonesia. Is it possible I buy that tool (I don't know yet the name) which for to fix that hammer?
I think it's called a center pin punch.
Unfortunately, I do not sell any tolls at this time, but you can find a lot of piano repair parts and tools on Howardpianoindustries.com
The one I use I bought from amazon.com
All you had to do was reem out the original flange and put a bigger center pin.Done it thousands of times.Time is money and no need for new flanges.
1:45 not really good to be putting strain on the hammer center pins by pushing the hammers with your hand
Done that many times. Until I started buying new flanges. Nice flashlight.
Sorry for your loss. I enjoyed watching your spinet piano restoration.
I can’t do it this way ? My hammer still hits for some reason any suggestion or other methods ?
Some people like to pull the action when they turn the high register however, I do not recommend doing that, depending on the length of your strings and the action you might just be able to get the mute between the strings like the lower register
Dump this video and do it again using a friend as your tripod.
Oh my gosh I. Can't watch Your Video. It's moving around so much.
You get seasick watching this video.
Where to buy the crab tools?
You can get some goodstuff at howardpianoindustries.com
@@pianomusicandrepair5840 Thanks, but I can't find the crab tools......
A stand for your camera and a light would both really help. But your insight is brilliant.
The camera movement is going to make me vomit
How do you get into a job like this?
I took training from one of my friends that is a Piano technician. He taught me everything I know today but if you want to take this as a career, I recommend finding a college to get into the Piano technicians guild. But it does take a lot of knowledge.
I have an overdamped piano. The dampers are above the hammers that blocked all the way for putting any mutes on it. I figured out that I could either damp each note by inserting the mutes' rubber head carefully under the hammers, similar to what you do, or remove the whole action completely, and play the notes by plucking the strings with guitar pick.
Lol ty. I don’t know how your piano techs couldn’t suggest this technique. It seems pretty simple enough.
Papps treble mute, much faster
Thanks for sharing but I find this technique much too slow. For my own technique, I make a longitudinal split at about 3/8" from the tip and about 1/4" deep in the rubber mute. This way I can easily insert the splitted section between the 2nd and 3rd string from the side and still insert the whole mute between string groups. I wish I could show you photos to illustrate.
Hello if you could tell me what’s the name of this or how to fix it both of them will help pls Video-th-cam.com/users/shortsn36ThmXI-aQ?feature=share
What do you do if in using the broaching tool you go too far and it gets a little loose? Assuming you can't use a larger pin, is there a way to fatten the bushing, or do you have to redo it?
You would more than likely have to redo it
Hey why does my hammers go sticking on the strings 😢. It goes and not coming back and the key sticks too 😅 and no sound. What are your thoughts about uneven hammers.
There can be multiple different reasons for sticking hammers most of the time there is a screw on the back of the key called the capstan if that capstan is too loose it will raise not allowing the hammer to drop after the key is pressed but I do not have a definite answer you will have to contact your local Piano technician.
Thx soo much ill give it a try.
Killer
Thank you. This helped my good friend trouble-shoot how to access the high notes. When I thanked him, he thanked me for your tutorial. A win-win!
I got dizzy watching from your phone moving around so much.
I have a 100 year old Conway Boston upright with an early simplex player I aim to restore myself.
I have a Wurlitzer piano very similar to yours, the b flat to the left of middle c just got jammed yesterday and is making no sound. Do you have any idea what that could be?
It’s probably something in the action most of the time if something falls in a piano it can take years of playing before it falls in the action if you know how your piano works you could lift the top lid and take a look and see if there’s anything keeping the action from moving properly but in cases like this I would recommend you contact your local Piano technician
i remove the piano action be for i tune and put the mute strips on
Where do you buy that pieces?
You can get them on Amazon or howardpianoindustries.com
Thanks!
what kind of glue do you use?
I used some regular gel superglue it’s not good to use piano PVCE glue because It takes over 24 hours for it to dry and it’s not good to have to clamp the felt so I just use Regular gel superglue because it bonds in just a matter of seconds But you still have to be careful to line it up in between the strings
