That's going to be an inside connection so there's no reason to take extra precautions like an outside like an automobile.

There were gaps between the bottom of the metal and the top of the insulation. That ain't right! Shouldn't there be some more shielding? Not an electrician, don't play one on TV, but have replaced a lamp cord.....
