Grip's Archery
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 3 ส.ค. 2022
Welcome to the Grip's Archery Channel. My videos will focus on archery and bowhunting. I have gear reviews, hunting videos, and some I call Grip's Tips, where I share things I have learned over 3 decades of bowhunting and competitive archery.
Bowhunting: I have hunted whitetail deer in three different states, and have taken over 80 animals, including twelve Pope & Young class bucks.
Archery: I am an IBO World Champion archer. I also have multiple State titles in both 3D and indoor spots.
I am not a brand basher, buck shamer, or trash talker. I tell it like it is based on my knowledge and experience with no bias or drama. There's enough of that out there already.
If anyone has any questions about any of my videos, just shoot me a message and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
Thanks for stopping by Grip's Archery!
Oh and "Grips" is spelled out in the antlers of my logo, just in case you didn't see it.

I have the 2023 Omen & I LOVE it!! I have had rotator cuff surgery & bought a 60 lb Omen & it is currently set on 50 lbs/29" draw and is smoking 315 grain Easton Sonics @ 295. Smooth shooter for a 5 1/2" brace height!
@@michaelcopeland1080 thanks. She is a smoker! Sounds you have yours dialed in. Best of luck with that shoulder.
nice review, I am definitely interested in getting one. I want to hunt from a recliner also 😂😂
@@michaelgauldin8592 thanks, I was just in mine most of the day this past Saturday. No better way to hunt from a tree.
Why is nobody else doing this 🤷🏻♂️ I'm 100% buying one
@@Yelladog78 great question. I have no idea. Don’t forget to use my discount code at checkout. Grip14. You’re gonna love it. Thanks.
@@gripsarchery14 definitely will, thank you
Next level game changers in hunting. 1- Cell cameras 2- Jx3 Saddle After watching many videos on this product, I'll soon be buying a complete setup with most available options and accessories as well. Can't wait! Major props and cudos to the design team of the JX3.
@@DAKOTABOWINWV I can’t argue with that. Not only is the JX3 system innovative but they have the best customer service around. Enjoy that hybrid saddle and good luck this season.
Great video...i was set on a panther climbing platform for my new JX3 but your video convinced me to stay with the sticks and I love the way the pack on. Thanks. Just ordered a set...great $ point to:) What brand aiders do you use?
@@kevinc3451 thank you. I’m glad the video was helpful. Best of luck to you this season!

I want one of these just for the fun factor to mess around with on my properties. I want to ramp that thing! Good job Grip!
@@NewDayOutdoors Thanks! As you know I was pretty pumped when it arrived. I have to say it does not disappoint. Oh and I do sometimes just take for a spin, just because.
Great video man. Definitely have a new subscriber
Thanks! I appreciate it.
This was a really great review video. I have my JX3 and have been practicing SRT climbing and repelling down. I made a couple small additions, like a very short additional bridge out of Amsteel for the SRT climbing(there are two extra bridge loops on the JX3) and added (2) latitude method saddle bags, one to each side to carry my rope, hand ascender and madrock safeguard. The saddle bags store nicely inside the folded up seat (transport mode) It's very easy to SRT climb with the JX3 due to the support of the backrest and seat. Also, repelling down is a lot of fun and very easy. Thanks for the great video, and good luck this season!
@@joshcromley7354 thanks for the feedback! I’m also glad you liked the video. Funny you mentioned SRT. I recently have been giving it serious consideration. Was looking at hand ascenders on-line today. Mostly to use in a couple big gnarly trees that are cumbersome to get my lineman’s rope around. If you don’t mind I’d like to pick your brain a little bit. Mostly what SRT equipment are you using? Thanks.

I don't see it being a realistic purchase for the average hunter. I can see it sitting in the garage a lot being unused.
@@jimmybradley6654 are you saying I’m above average or below average? Just kidding. I guess that would be up to the individual. I took my peddle assist mt. Bike nearly every time I hunted. I don’t see much of difference between the two. Aside from the Grunt not requiring any peddling and able handle a larger payload. I call it that win - win.
Cost as much as a ATV. Why not just a ATV?
@@SurvivalSavvvy easier to haul and much quieter. Also less maintenance.

Worked with Grip at the expo and it was amazing to see the volume of people who wanted to test it out.
@@GeardUpNorth it is a head turner for sure.
I loved the saddle. Thanks for letting me highlight your jx3 in our mobile hunting expo video! Super cool you got video of us filming! Im definitely getting one.
My pleasure! I was happy to do so. Your back will appreciate it.
Just a tip for all saddle hunters. Lower the poundage on your bow. I bought an old Matthew switchback XT and fixed it up just to hunt out of my JX3 this year. I turned it down to 54 pounds that way when I’m in upstate New York and it’s cold and a deer comes in on my weak side, It will be no problem getting it back. I usually shoot 62 pounds for reference.
Great advice, I have my bow turned down to 60#'s.
Was practicing with my JX3 last night. I love mine
If you were like me and went straight from treestand to the JX3, there is a bit of learning curve, but if you hunted from a saddle before, you should have an easy transition. Thanks
@@gripsarchery14 no I bought one of the original JX3 Hybrids. I bought my first JX3 Hybrid in 2018. I now have a GEN 2
@@jeremywhitworth3774 Roger that! You’ll be good to go then. Good luck this season.
Im sure u could lower your tether down just above ya head and it will get that bridge/ tether out of ya face !
@@Crayz919 probably would but I prefer to have it as high as I can get it to give me plenty of rope to work with incase I need to do a little tree walking. Besides it doesn’t bother me.
A person cannot realize how comfortable it is until you sit in one. I have a dryad drey also which is one of the more comfortable saddles and it’s not even in the same ballpark as the jx3. No knees pushing on the tree is a game changer.
I was seriously looking at the Dryad, but the need for the kneepads was the deal breaker.
You sold me I am buying one
@@SurvivalSavvvy Awesome! The more time you spend it, the more you will love it.
I am a 57 year old man, brand new hunter. I am an hour and a half from Manheim, I wish I knew this event was happening I would have loved to try the JX3.
Me too! I would have been happy to let you try it out. It was a great show. I know it it's not much consolation but we plan on having it there again next year.
It was great meeting you at the expo in Lancaster. Thanks for the JX3 demo and having me try it out. I ordered one on Sunday.
@@kevinalpaugh7909 that’s awesome! It was great meeting you as well. Thanks for coming out to the expo! It was my pleasure letting you try out the JX3, you’re gonna love it!
Got a jx3 with bullman ringof steps for this year.I’m running the arsenal icon sticks that JX3 stick looks like a good option for my top stick.
@@jeremywynn7580 thanks. It works for me, especially since it drops right on the frame of the seat.
Excellent review. Watched the JX3 hybrid first, really the best system ive seen yet.
Thanks. I agree.
Great review jx3 sticks
Thanks, i appreciate it.
It was nice chatting with you at the mobile hunters expo in Kalamazoo. Thanks for taking the time to explain the JX3 with us. Looking forward to watching the rest of your videos.
@@SMSCHA it was my pleasure! I hope to get the next one out soon.
As you’re leaning, are you using the tree as a blocker, always having a strong side shot? Sorta like John eberhart. If you have something coming in weak side, are you just moving left around the tree?
@@michaelriddle2311 yes. That is my preference. I use a Bullman ring of steps in conjunction with my JX3 stick w/ the wide top as my platform. I can also swing right and reach back but that would put my intended target behind me momentarily and obviously not ideal.
Thats a better price than some saddles. I'm right there with you on health conditions. Keep that in mind when I tell you, I have a way to make your climbing, easier, and safer. You can go up in your seated position. I haven't made a video on how, yet. I have made one on one sticking (not like anyone as done before). If you watch it just picture hooking up with another tether for transitioning. th-cam.com/video/-XmsiY7eBiM/w-d-xo.html Video coming soon on how I would climb with the JX3.

Yes sir! Just won the IBO Spring Nationals with it last month. Thanks for the positive feed back.

Nice! As for the quare one, maybe you can take another film container and get it hot and shape it square? Anyway, I can't wait to see some deer hunts, grip! Have a good one, and I'll be tuned in!
Thank you Dan. Good luck to you out there.
Nice shooting!!! I'm thinking about picking up an Omen.
It’s a great shooting bow. It’s speed will let you shoot a heavier arrow at a lighter poundage. Good luck!
@@gripsarchery14 I'm currently shooring a PSE React set @ 52 lbs & a PSE Inertia set @ 48 lbs due to rotator cuff surgery about a year ago..Both bows are shooting Easton Hexx 400 spine arrows with 100 grain points & ultralight inserts; the React is shooting 275 fps & the Inertia is rolling along @ 285 fps. I'm hoping to be able to work back up close to 60 lbs again, although I'm 61 years old ...lol ... would love to have an Omen w/S2 cams around 50 lbs draw
Can I try.... with the AR 10... lol I got faith in ya grip, this guy taught me everything I know about shooting a compound! Btw it's brain only....👍🏻😉
Not much of challenge with the AR, but If you want to try with your Evoke just let me know. You are still shooting that bow correct?
No, I don't have it anymore, I wanna get another compound, tho! I need to get ahold of you somehow .....
Enjoying your laid back easy going narrative. Funny how we all can dial it in on the home target but then have high or low hits on those 3-d critters. It’s voodoo or witchcraft or something along those lines cause it sure ain’t me! Ha ha! I’m 72 years old and in the 40 yard max ASA class but at least 50% of my practice shots are at a 5” diameter spot at 45 yards. 5” is the mean diameter of an ASA 10 ring on most animal targets. The 12 score I can see generally but my realistic goal is holding center of the 10 and let er rip. I’m in the known class so there’s not any excuses for not hitting the 10 ring lol. 👍👍👀
Thanks! I am starting to think that I'm getting in bad habit of holding on 3D targets, especially if there is no other arrow in it. I may break down and try a lens but I do try to keep things simple and no lens fits that bill. Good luck at the ASA's this year.
Thank you for the detailed video. I live in South Korea, and I'm planning to buy it soon. Thank you.
My pleasure!
My first alligator hunt will be with an AR-15, not a bow! Haha😉
Probably a good idea!
Man, I miss shooting bills knocks off his arrows.....idc if their black or not.....better bring ya a pack of'em! Hahahahahahaha, grip taught me a lot about shooting a compound! Thanks, grip!
Thanks Danny! Those were good times!
How are you liking the omen? You're shooting pretty fast and flat with it! I have an S2 cam omen ordered, still bout 4weeks away...itching to get it!
Thanks! I really like the Omen. For a speed bow it shoots very well, much better than I do, lol. It has a great wall, and holds nicely. No hand shock and surprisingly quiet for a bow that is spitting my 3D arrows at about 340 fps. I am sure you are gonna love it. I hope you get your hands yours soon!
I have been shooting Zingers 3 and 4 for 5 years now. Indoor archery, 3D, and hunting. No need for all of the fletching jigs. They shoot great! I shoot all the way out to 60 yrds with a 600 grain arrow and 18% F.O.C. Very happy with these.
Very cool, I have to say I was impressed. coincidentally my new package of orange 4 fletch Zingers arrived just yesterday. As I said in my video, I needed some in "Grip's Archery" orange.
I know this is almost a year old, but how do they work with pass through. They pull off easily, get caught in cavity, so on. That's my only hold up with them.
@Fite234 last year the Zinger got stuck in the hide so i guess that helped with the arrow making a full pass through
Il take all black and black knocks so I don't give em anything to aim at! 😉
I can neither confirm or deny having done that before.
Good video but has anyone watched the reviews on bloods archery channel
I have not. I'll have to check it out.
Nice one , bet she tasted good too lol
Absolutely!
Looks like you’re actually a 28-28.5 draw . Looks way long at 29 .
