Why Does Everyone Love A Link to the Past?
Growing up I always heard about how good of a game A Link to the Past was however, every time I would try it out I would get bored of it after a couple of dungeons and proceed to drop it. Recently I got the itch to try playing it again and decided that this time I was going to see it through no matter what. What is it about this game that everyone loves but I just don't seem to get, today I go through the game and discover exactly what that something is.

Ranking Every Sonic Riders Stage

Recently I got the urge to go back and play sonic riders again. I loved this game as a kid and after going back it held up incredibly well to my taste in games today. So, I figured I would go ahead and rank every track in the game and make a video out of it! I appreciate any time spent watching and would appreciate any suggestions to help me make better content going forwards. If you've played ...

I like OOT more, but this is peak Zelda. The world has so much to do, the side items are all worth your time, and it has the RPG feel.

“unilateral” praise - that word doesn’t mean what you think it means. You want “unanimous”.

I played this game when ocarina of time and majora mask were already out and I fell in love with it. This game is hands down still my favorite Zelda game of all time. Twilight Princess and Wind Waker are tied for 2nd to me. Minish cap and Ocarina of time are tied too. I think Majora Mask and Skyward sword are at the bottom of my zelda list.

Honestly some of the late game flaws are “punishments” for not exploring enough. By the time I was in the late game I had already discovered the flute, 1/2 magic and the magic cape. I get still views my it as a flaw, but there are solutions to these problems if you thoroughly explore the world as you go along

My first Zelda game was OOT. I am now 33 and just about to finish ALTTP for the first time. I did have a brief time with the game as a kid though (I think 11). It was loaded on my PC with an emulator that my brother installed. He told me back then I'd hate the game but he was wrong, I loved it. Didnt have a lot of time to be on screens as a kid though. So I never was able to get past the 3rd dungeon before the computer was replaced lol. But because of that I was still able to get some nostalgia from it. This game is a true gem. I just love Zelda games in general though. I haven't played one I hate yet.

This is the first game I ever beat. And it is one of my favorite I also remember as a child my older brother playing links Awakening and it has a lot of nostalgia to me also one of the best. But I didn't play minish cap until just 2 years ago which is crazy to say but I have to say it might be my favorite because it reminds me of Link to the past but with more detail I love the way you can shrink into a little guy and do all the puzzles

Its interesting to hear a version of this where someone had to downgrade graphically. LTTP came out when I was 7, and NES was the standard up to that point. The increased graphical and sound quality from one system to the next did more than make the game look better. It opened up entirely new avenues of presentation for everything from the game elements, to the way the story was presented. There was an outright aesthetic and mood building explosion. The potential for creative expression was used to the utmost on games like LTTP. So when we got our hands on it, the entire thing, top to bottom, blew our fucking balls off. This was *a lot of peoples first rpg of any kind.* We had never seen such a game map. And when it was finally time to warp to the dark world, the revelation that there was actually two maps was just outrageous. Youd never think about it going back now, but at the time it felt pretty crazy. As for the moveable statues. It never would have occurred to us not to try every single statue in the game because it was so fraught with secrets, and there was no one around to tell us every single thing about the game. And I agree that the hint from Flute Boy to play the flute at the statue is flimsy. As he disappears right after and the dialogue is no longer available. This wouldnt fly nowadays. Its not exactly a "nintendo power" magazine gate, but when hes gone hes gone and you better hope your friends at school didnt fly through the text also. Because quest markers for anything not a dungeon just didnt exist. Oh yea and actually GETTING the triforce and having it in your postgame inventory screen while you poke around and try to 100% things always felt pretty cool. Something we would later learn not to take for granted.

Because every aspect of the game is essentially exemplary. The music, the gameplay, the design work, the "story pathing" (especially when it spans L-side to D-side), the gear, the menu selection, the fun exploits, etc. That's why it stands strong even 20+ years later. Same with exemplary films, books, etc. 🐲✨🐲✨🐲✨

  • @RenegadeGamer89
    @RenegadeGamer89 หลายเดือนก่อน

It's the timing of when it came out. First of all the bitwars of the early 90s were a big deal and this game was one of the SNES' big hitters. If you weren't alive at the time you wouldn't fully understand it, similar to someone who wasn't alive for Pokemania not understanding the appeal of Red and Blue. Back then video games were just a lot harder, so the difficulty of the game was very fair by comparison. The story was extremely deep and engaging for that time and it was a huge game so you got your money's worth. As far as what you do in the game all the items are useful and balanced as well as fun side quests. Then you get to the dungeons and they were all well designed in terms of progression and again balanced very well with the game. Finally the Zelda formula hadn't really been established yet until this game. You could argue that Ocarina perfected it but this game walked so the rest of the franchise could soar.

Legendary game. Endless hours of playability since there were so many side / hidden items and back then, there were no internet walkthroughs. If you were lucky, Nintendo magazine would drop one hint in the monthly issue, otherwise, it was on you.

This is the game that came with my Super Nintendo for my birthday in either 1993 or 1994. -- Easily the best Zelda game I've ever played. It felt like a genuine upgrade/sequel to the original Legend of Zelda for the NES. My 2nd favorite Zelda game is the Ocarina of Time.

Pegasus boots and an overworld that compliments them! It laid the best formula in gaming history. Cutting grass never felt so good. Every frame is filled with charm. THE DARK WORLD!

I would really encourage you not to cheat in the future, don't look up guides. It will make you appreciate the game a lot more. Having those epiphanies about what to do to get past that part you're stuck on while in a dream or in the shower, and then having that solution you dreamed up actually work, are invaluable and part of the nostalgia people have for older games. You had to be determined and there wasn't a thousand other games to download online in an instant. At best you were going to get to the rental store this month and try something new 😅 This turned a game with a challenge from a "10 hour game" to a lifetime achievement as a young person. So yeah don't cheat next time, take a break and let it roll around in the back of your mind a while before you go back to it. I promise you'll thank me.

I’m nearly 40. This is my favorite Zelda even though I haven’t beaten it because of memories. My dad used to play it and would give the littlest kids the second controller so we could “play” too. Then I got it on gba and I was on the last fight and my nephew played it and lied to that fairy and lost a bunch of weapons and I still remind him to this day lol.

My cousins always got new game systems when they dropped and I pretty much grew up always playing at their house. It's pure nostalgia for me watching them along with my aunt and uncle playing games together. Along with Zelda & Zelda 2, LTTP will always stick with me. They should totally make all three games in the format that Link's Awakening was made for the Switch.

I think playing it on an SNES helps with the controls. Another thing is that Nintendo Power ran a 12 part LttP manga while it was out and for a little kid like myself who was only just becoming a degenerate weeb, it was huge to see something that different. And the players guide that had a ton of flavor stuff on hyrule like clothing styles etc. and it was a really special time.
