How is overwhelm contributing to your fear-based reactions? Our brains are wired to constantly fear the worst-case scenario, but we can actively train them to see the world differently. What if next time your boss called you into a meeting you walked in believing there might be good news? So what do we do if we have been languishing for the past 20 years? How do we dig ourselves out of the hole? Friends/people always hurt you, people suck… etc. #Backstory… i grew up in an abusive home with an abusive school/daycare setting and shut the world out as a coping mechanism. Then came the self medication… after 20 years passed I came out of the fog and now nothing I do seems to bring me joy. I just feel bleh… no motivation to even do the things I enjoy, not sad but not happy. The in between 😖😖😖

    • @DrRebeccaHeiss
      @DrRebeccaHeiss 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Why don't you try an experiment? DECIDE for yourself that you are going to allow yourself to experience the highs and lows. For 24 hours get curious asking yourself as many questions as possible. What brings me joy? What brings me pain? How can I move toward the former in the smallest way possible? Try adopting a child-like mind allowing all possibilities to be true. Often with substance addiction, it can take some time for the dopamine response to recover....curiosity and wonder are the best remedies I have found. I hope this helps....

    Will Smith wasnt talking about sex or sexually conquering a woman though…. He was giving men with genuine intetions a way to pursue and woo the woman they liked into a commited Healthy relationship. Even in the movie he turns down a Guy whos tryna use his Services and tactics to get into a woman pants just to use her for sex (which would make her feel violated). I think this distinction is pretty important just for the Sake of modern day dating culture…. Alot of women are exhausted and a have been violated by men so many times that they do reject first attempts very easily… the movie teaches men to pursue a woman in a way that SHE feels comfortable and safe and most of all is respected during the pursuit..again wanting to pursue a helathy relationship with someone is very different than just using a Person for sex. Obviously if a Person makes it very clear theyre not interested in getting to know you at all or its not the right time etc you have to respect that.

      This argument is exactly the problem. When We say No when we mean No!!!!! If we change our mind we get back to you. But you still pursuing after a No will exactly create a Fawn or Freeze response because by you still pursuing it the trauma response sets in and we don't feel safe anymore.

    my advice: look up what altruism actually means. little hint, if u reward it, its no longer altruism ;) btw: rewarding someone for something someone else did is the same as imprison someone for the deed some other did...one of the many reasons collectivism is evil

    • @DrRebeccaHeiss
      @DrRebeccaHeiss 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sooooo let’s start with the first comment. I do understand altruism. It’s an act done without an expectation of return. But a 3rd party could see that and reward it. That’s what I’m referring to here

    • @DrRebeccaHeiss
      @DrRebeccaHeiss 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      And I’m not sure how the second comment is relevant 🤷🏻‍♀️

    • @oernzz
      @oernzz 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@DrRebeccaHeiss it is disrespectful if u reward someone for something that this person obviously did without expectation of getting a reward... you would feed the impression that the deed was truly not altruistic, that there always was the expectation of a reward. imo best you can do is to make a "tip on the hat" and nothing more. every reward beyond that perverts and destroys altruism, at least on the long run. the edit refers to the title and the content of the clip. it maybe that studies showed that rewarding the team outperform rewarding individuals... but at some point, someone will find out that performance no longer matters, what really matters is to be on the right team. whole society's got poisoned because of that. maybe i misunderstood the whole point...in any case i wish u all the best

    I've been on the other side of this. She froze and I took her home, she asked me to come inside but I declined. I wasn't feeling it. She behaved in an irregular manner, I felt like she understood what could develop if she was more vulnerable but that would make her lose control. This struggle between being vulnerable and being powerless/losing control, I think is the reason she finds relationships very difficult. It was difficult for me.

    I think this makes a lot of sense explaining the differences between male and female responses. An aggressor probably has little use for a male captive, so a guy's best option is to fight to the bitter end. Whereas that aggressor is more likely to violate a female captive but not kill her, so the freeze response makes sense. Both victims' outcomes rather suck, but it kind of hangs together.

    Americans can't drive for shit. I'm English but I've lived in Indiana now for 10 years, and Hoosiers are the WORST (and I've driven in a lot of states - they're even worse than Boston drivers). No-one has ANY spatial awareness, indicates or uses their mirrors. They're aggressive, they tailgate, weave in and out of traffic (without indicating), half the time don't even turn there lights on in any kind of impaired visibility, have NO idea how to use a roundabout properly (ESPECIALLY INDICATING !), and will cross 4 lanes to get to their exit (without indicating) because they weren't paying attention. It's worth mentioning how many people are on their phones while driving too. I drive a dump truck, so I can a good top view of what so many idiots do - I saw some moron in a Ford Bronco on I-865 East watching videos while holding his phone in the middle of his steering wheel... in rush hour.... I noticed this because he was swerving in to my lane. From my experience, not even 10% of you are better than an average driver, and that is if the average driver was a goldfish. There's a clip on YT, where an experienced cop stops some dumbass kid for speeding - He didn't book him but gave him a life lesson. He said something very poignant - "wake up before you never wake up...".

    If women can lead it should be effortless. They don't have to dethrone men to lead, they just have to be competitive with men. They should wait for getting leadership through the sympathy card.

    • @DrRebeccaHeiss

      I agree! No person should get a leadership position based on sympathy. HOWEVER, that’s not what women are doing.
