Sister Joel, M.C. Devotion to Our Lady
As part of my new book project, I traveled to India January 2023 and interviewed a number of Missionaries of Charity sisters. It was with pure joy that I spent nearly three hours with Sister Joel, M.C. I will not be sharing many of my videos in anticipation of my project. I am presently going though cancer treatments which will give me the opportunity to review my recordings and to transcribe them.

I am in Kolkata, India conducting beautiful interviews with some of the Missionary of Charity sisters and photographing several homes. This is from Prem Dan, a home for the destitute, where residents are often picked up from the street.

Ingrid Jiminez Mora suffered from a debilitating disease as a toddler. Mother Teresa changed her life in 1988 and according to the Mora family, Ingrid was cured by the intercessory prayers of Mother Teresa.

My journey to Mother Teresa began above a bar

Beginning in my early years at the University of Michigan, I spent a semester photographing in a bar. That is where I began my work that would later manifest into that auspicious moment of meeting Mother Teresa. The journey can begin long before we actually have the encounter that can change our lives.

I am the author of three books and the journey continues. I have been diagnosed with breast cancer, so I thought this an appropriate subject for today's submission. I respectively wonder about this "I was sent to keep her in line and the other sisters in line" with the needs of the archdiocese. Many young or even not so young people are leaving the church based on such statements, beliefs.

With all respect, you're talking to a dead person. Necromancy, according to scripture. Jesus Christ is the only mediator between God and man. There's no harm in asking those among the living to intercede for us, but you're asking a dead human woman and frankly, a pretty heretical one, to pray for you.

Many saints were not the easiest to get along with. Think of the conflict of St. Paul and St Barnabas. Saints are directed by the spirit and can be quite militant and blunt about it. They are not perfect people, but people who try their best with what they know to follow Christ.
mother teresa, padre pio, saint bernadette or st therese - i like reading the memoirs of those who lived with them and it seems always difficult to live with any saint - their radical dedication to God challenges you and is demanding ....everything else than easygoing lullaby....
