@@alejandromorales8715Y@@alejandromorales8715 :D Bach wrote the notes of the voice line in the same time with the instrumental, in Recoil case Alan left artists to do that on top of his instrumental, so yes: Martin composed both chord progressions and voice lines in the same time like Bach ;) It is clear Recoil tracks don’t have the same appealing like Martin ones, its easy to check that: look into the top charts from the 80’s till now ;) ps: if you really remember any Recoil vocal track after 30 min you really are a great fun of Alan Wilder :))

@@plutostube not true on so many levels. First, there's a great deal of Recoil Music where lyrics came first: Faith Healer, Jezebel, Red River Cargo, The Killing Ground, Dum Dum Girl, and so on. If you point out that some of those examples are covers, beware: quite a few famous Massive Attack Songs are covers in some way, like Angel. Additionally, what usually happens is that Alan presented the lyrics writer a sing structured enough for it to include some lyrics, but further development would need to be done. And guess what? That's how most musicians work if they are collaborating. See my point below. Pure songwriters (like Martin... until recently)... until recently. Second, there's plenty of successful musicians where music was composed first, and even as a norm in some bands. Led Zeppelin, Paradise Lost, Curve, NIN... I would go as far as to say that most collaborative rock bands who develop their songs in the rehearsal room work that way Third, any musician worthy of the name knows there are no fixed rules in order to write appealing music. Brian Eno might know a thing or two. Fourth, comparing the commercial intentions of Recoil and DM is simply moronic. And, believe or not, there are actually people who believe commercial success is inversely proportional to quality. I'm not one of them, but it's not rare to find the usual Slint or Fugazi fan who dismisses DMs music as "too comercial and banal". Finally, Recoil music was never intended to be as successful as Dam's or even an order of magnitude below. That said, it's probably not as commercially successful as it could have. The reason? The same one that allowed Alan to release his own music. DM fans, most of whom are not the ideal target for that kind of music. It would be more appropriate for fans of Sigur Ros, The Haxan Cloak, The Golden Palominos or The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble, but just by existing, DM fans blocked the access to a more natural market for Recoil. Sad, but not unexpected.

@@alejandromorales8715 I see your points clearly but I don't agree he never wanted appealing in his music, let's be honest about it, its about you can or not, he clearly stated he is not able to be a composer in the same sense as Martin, he was amazing in sound design and orchestrations, thats why DM lost their "thing" in some point cause it was about their chemistry M+A. Also A compositions for DM, they are nice but that are not even in top 20 of DM tracks if you do a survey of the funs.
