I'm a neurodivergent girl who kinda grew into the "I'm not like other girls" persona. Because I was spacey, socially awkward and I never could pick up on subtext, it meant that I was an immediate target for bullying. And bullying for women isn't calling you names or physically beating you up, but manufactured social isolation and ruthless mocking that hid behind plausible deniability. I thought I hated women. I never really said I liked boys more though, because they were just as cruel, but I remember thinking that I'm glad the boys at least never tricked me into thinking that they were actually being nice to me. Being autistic means that I'm often uncomfortably sincere, and I deeply desired for people to just say what they mean and take what I say as literally what I mean. Now that I'm older I realise that that phase of "I'm not like other girls" only happened because it seemed that other girls always wanted to make sure that I knew that I wasn't allowed to be included. This made the idea of a girl's girl very weird to me. I made a girl's girl type of friend once in highschool and I was always afraid that she would one day take a look at me and go "oh, I see, you're not a proper girl" and that she would simply stop hanging out with me like every other girl in my life. She never did though, and she helped me understand that the reason those girls treated me that way growing up was because that's how they were treated by society and their parents. Femininity has to be so many conflicting things, and being an individual with your own autonomy is one thing you get punished for as a girl. Anyway sorry for the rant lmao
