    It seems like phones and cameras dictate many souls pilgrimage. Surely the path of a Christian Pilgrim is to connect with God by withdrawing from most of the comforts of life. I am 66 next year and God willing will do the Camino Francais The route is full of Christ and he is my reason and this is the foundation of the Camino and Christ is the reason for doing Pilgrimage. There is much New age ideology, that has crept in, pushed by the Tourist industry and TH-cam Mercenaries. A Priest should surely focus on leading The Lost to Christ, not a cozy walk for it's own sake. Rant over.

    Ok I’m feeling even better about my shoe choice this week- Topo Terraventure, which are a little big. I made sure they were after a long walk in Salomons Ultra 3D pro wrecked my feet on a long walk. They were goretex too and my feet cooked and swole in them. I too bought several pairs of the Salomons over the years until they narrowed the toe box in the last model I bought, which ruined them for me. I had gone the other way wearing minimalist footwear but I think the barefoot style would be too hard on the feet over the distance of the Camino. I’d like more time to get used to the new shoes but they feel good. Trail runners with a wide toe box. So fingers crossed 🤞

      Yes. It was no problem at all. Though the international flights have gotten tighter on baggage rules this past year than they used to be. I still think he umbrella would be fine even though technically it would stick out of the bag too long.

    Sarria, GALICIA. tanto os cuesta nombrar a Galicia?

    • @CaminoGuide
      @CaminoGuide 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I know this is important to you. But the rest of the world does not think of Galicia as another country. It is part of Spain. So we talk about Sarria, Spain because that is the country it is located in. When Galicia becomes a nation, I will gladly refer to that nation in videos. Galicia is a beautiful place, but as for now Galicia is part of Spain.

    • @placidobaamonde6374

    I understand your premise but I cant drop everything for a 30+ day walk. I have a wife, kids and a business to look after. I'll do it when I dont have to pay school fees. Meantime, Camino vids are escapism. Thx, Matt

    • @CaminoGuide
      @CaminoGuide 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I totally understand that perspective. I’ve never been able to go for 30+ days either and I’ve even been able to make it part of my work! I made a rule a long time ago…Go even when it isn’t perfect. Can you go for 7 days? We can plan a Camino that’s 7 days. Can you get 10? That can be planned too. Maybe business and family doesn’t allow to completely disconnect. But what if you only worked an hour a day while there? Would that make it feasible? I once taught on online theology class while on Camino! That stuff isn’t ideal. But it might be the difference between making the Way now and making it 20 years from now.

    • @CaminoGuide

      I haven’t used them. But it’s probably safe. They are a reseller. So they can’t send the ticket because they don’t have it yet (my guess). Renfe does not release the tickets for sale until about one month prior to travel.

    Sitting here, nursing a Spring cold and wishing I were in Spain so the next best thing . . . Some good points here but, while we each walk our own Camino, I'll just say: too many clothes, too big a bag. The temptation is: Oh, I've got some space, what else ought I take? I did my first CF Camino (2001) with a 60L pack which was what I had, by the time I got to Pamplona I shipped home about a third of the gear. Since then I've found 40L is more than enough. If you carry two water bottles drink from the one in the left pocket first; on the CF you are walking west and the sun is on your back/left hand side. The left hand bottle gets warmer and tepid water mid afternoon is NOT refreshing! Summer, in Spain, on the Camino and no hat? Tsk, Tsk! Also, Duct tape - take a few metres worth wrapped around an old store card. Finally, and this is the most important point DO. NOT. PIERCE. BLISTERS. WITH. A. NEEDLE. AND. THREAD! As a friend, a feisty Irishwoman and a medical doctor who has worked with MSF in war zones and refugee camps across the world and who doesn't suffer fools lightly once put it to a major in the Spanish army medical corps who was busily piercing blisters: "Why not give them a shot of toxin instead?" If you get a hot spot tape it up, even duct tape will do. Keep it clean, keep it dry and let the air get to it when resting. If you have to walk on it tape it over - again, even duct tape will do. ¡Ultreia y buen Camino a todos!
