@@WaypointTravel One, people do not just randomly sleep at work unless they want to be fired. Two, smog is mostly limited to big cities, and even Shanghai has at most a total of a week of smog A YEAR. I live in Shanghai, so I know this. People do not cough up a lung when it happens, as most people do not care. Some wear a mask, but that's it. Three, people will not ignore you or laugh at you when you ask for directions. They might not be the most enthusiastic, but many will answer your questions. Four, bathrooms in urban places are mostly clean (squatty potties have decreased over the last 5-10 years). Five, people do not point and stare like they're at a zoo. They may stare and whisper, but they do so discretely for the most part. Six, babies do not squat in the streets. Parents here are super neat freaks, and they will scream at their children for even touching the ground. Seven, literally nobody sells or eats "dog, cat, or mountain lion" meat. There was outrage on WeChat a few weeks ago because a dog was unfairly slaughtered on a school campus.

While i agree with the fashion thing, a good portion of people do still typically throw one on as a courtesy when sick.

Public restrooms, ive been to most states and have still never seen a public bathroom stall that didn't have at least a 1 foot gap at the bottom and top.

That is going to depend on what you want to do! If you are wanting 18 hours of daylight and decently warm weather.. mid summer, but that's also high tourist season. If you are wanting to see the aurora, winter would be your best bet. If you are wanting to see all that you can in one trip, then the beginning of September is a good time. You have a decent chance of seeing some aurora, Can still visit Denali before it closes for the year and it isn't absolutely freezing yet.

Everything is so much bigger in person.

I have never personally seen it not be a madhouse. Other agents I have spoken to have said they have arrived super early and not needed it. I never send my clients without the arrival package and have never had any complaints about it. I don't know when you are arriving, but if it is in the next couple days i would HIGHLY recommend it as MBJ airport was shut down a few days back for runway maintenance and they are still trying to catch up with all the diverted/cancelled flights.
