Light Infantry buglers singing it through.
Spectacular performance.
Still impressive today. Love the bugles.
Hi What year is this. Great drill and music !
somehow am reminded of "Mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun"....
Cede nulis, gentlemen
Swift and Bold
Did we march at that speed it was 65 years ago when I was in the Somerset Light Infantry
Hi Colin, as the narrator says, the Light Infantry marched at 140 paces per minute, which is much faster than the rest of the army, but for display purposes, the LI band and bugles marched at 160. We were very fit in those days, not so much now 😂
I don’t think the county regiments marched at that pace.
Fantastic!!
Brings back memories' ex 1 RGJ 72-76 B coy and Recce Pltn.
I was one of the buglers at this very proud to be part of it.
Wow. This was brilliant. I know it’s over thirty years ago, but it’s stood the test of time fantastically! Thank you👍👍👍
Last time light division beating retreat 💂🇬🇧
Light Division would Sound the Retreat...
The skill to march like that and hit pure notes on a bugle is incredible
Its a pity we do not have as many any more. Playing a Bugle is a rare talent that only a few have, so bring 'em back!
What's the song/march at 4:56? The march right after Les Clarions Anglais?
mechanised infantry
Those were the days when we had band and bugles got nothing like it now
Brilliant. Is there a recording of "Marching through Georgia" that the Green Jackets used in the 60s
Howie 😬
Well done the Light Infantry I was infantry but would have loved to marched with you
Thank you for your service, Beano.
@@lewissmith3896 thank you Lewis 👍

What year was the performance?
85
2nd time marching on this magical moment
Mechanised infantry was the first tune I think .great buglers. Silver bugles are the best. 👍
i wanted to hear the music .the narrator could have waited till the end
My favourite without a doubt
I think this was 1985? Or 86. There are all four bands on parade and all of the bugle platoons from both regiments. I watched the parade. I had recently transferred from the Corunna Band to the Welsh Guards band. I had to go and watch. I was ( and still are) very proud that I was a member of the Light Division. Thank you so very much for posting this video. For myself, this was the last time the “ Best of the Best” marched together. Even though there were more massed Light Division displays to come after this one, this was the one that truly captured the sound of the Light Division before all the defence cuts really started to kick in.
What was the slow march? It is so moving!!
@@simonelliott6669 The title of the slow is “Speed your Journey “. It is the chorus of Hebrew slaves from the opera Nabucco written by G. Verdi.
Actually it was June 1987...Depot, all Regular Bn's, plus TA Buglers, then Depot & 4x Regular Bands and 2x TA
@@neilhunt6476 my apologies.
@@johntrlong no issue, was on that one...so remember it well.
The Light Division at its very best 💯💯💯🎵👌🎵

I have this LP
Los mejores junto con los Royal Marines band. Congratulation
I spent ten mostly happy years in the band of the Somerset and Cornwall LI and 1st LI. This brings back many happy memories. Hugh Bryant.
The Sambre et Meuse is by far my favourite! I always think it's two fingers to the French! 😊😊😎
I was a bugler there
How did maintain the ability to play the bugle at that speed I’d be hanging out my arse
@@chrisbousfield5529 just fitness we got used to it
They were in Short Slieve Order .Not in their No.1 s.Still very impressive !
My first memories of the L.I. Band was at Holyrood Bks.Bangor N.I. June ‘78.
Wilky ?
