The Snowy Owl (Nyctea scandiaca) is a species of true owl native to the North Pole, it is known for having white plumage, which helps it blend in with the snow, it is known to prey on lemmings, hares, and ground squirrels, it is the only extant species of the genus Nyctea and is one of the few true owl species that is known for diurnal activity, there are two subspecies of snowy owl: the Eurasian Snowy Owl (Nyctea scandiaca scandiaca) and the American Snowy Owl (Nyctea scandiaca canadensis).
What country are you from? In Canada and most of the world its scientific name is actually _"Bubo Scandiacus"_ 💡
@ProtoMarcus, nope, the Bubo genus is polyphyletic, there are only six extant species belonging to the genus Bubo: the European Eagle Owl (Bubo bubo), the West Asian Eagle Owl (Bubo turcomanus), the Central Asian Eagle Owl (Bubo hemachalanus), the Chinese Eagle Owl (Bubo kiautschensis), the Siberian Eagle Owl (Bubo sibiricus), and the Blakiston's Eagle Owl (Bubo blakistoni) The snowy owl is now moved back to the monotypic genus Nyctea with its scientific name changed back to Nyctea scandiaca The great horned owl and lesser horned owl are now placed in the genus Neobubo with their scientific names now being Neobubo virginianus and Neobubo magellanicus respectively The arabian eagle owl, dusky eagle owl, forest eagle owl, indian eagle owl, barred eagle owl, and philippine eagle owl all now belong to the genus Indobubo with their scientific names now being Indobubo milesi, Indobubo coromandus, Indobubo nipalensis, Indobubo bengalensis, Indobubo sumstranus, and Indobubo philippensis respectively And the pharaoh eagle owl, spotted eagle owl, greyish eagle owl, giant eagle owl, shelley's eagle owl, akun eagle owl, usambara eagle owl, fraser's eagle owl, and cape eagle owl all now belong to the genus Afrobubo with their scientific names now being Afrobubo ascalaphus, Afrobubo africanus, Afrobubo cinerascens, Afrobubo lacteus, Afrobubo shelleyi, Afrobubo leucostictus, Afrobubo vosseleri, Afrobubo poensis, and Afrobubo capensis respectively The Bubo genus is the most basal and distantly related from all the other genera while the genera Nyctea and Neobubo are sister taxa and the genera Indobubo and Afrobubo are more closely related to fish owls (genus Ketupa) and fishing owls (genus Scotopelia) respectively
@@indyreno2933 This is super fascinating and informative, thank you for taking time to write such a detailed comment!

In which location you have taken its simply awesome. Nicely fimed.
Too bad they made you cut the pellet impact.
they always have itching
Great close-up video of the Bald Eagle.
I love Raptors, especially that little 3 - 4 inch high one that shows up every now and then at my Fishcamp. It became pretty friendly towards me, also having its company is very relaxing. I've seen it in action, very effective and efficient at its craft😁👍👍
he looks super wise
You can really see how the coloration is camouflage in this one. The feathers absolutely match the bark
Very patient also very stealthy
Gorgeous little thing.
I raised a Raven this summer. Chose to stay around and is never caged or tethered. Great Horned Owls are in the same nest now. Check ✅ out my channel and see me summoning the Raven with a series of whistles! Experience and Blessing of my lifetime!
Love this owl so beautiful
Wow. What an incredible, majestic, and BEAUTIFUL owl. 🥰🥰❤❤ Thanks for posting.
I have a lot of these in my area! Saw one years ago that was really big! Has over a four foot wingspan. We also have barred owls and screech owls. Love them all.
Nice photo . I have siloquite of a large GH owl in a neighbors dead tree up about 30 yds away sitting on a branch . That pic is to die for . Most beautiful picture Probably close to 2 1/2 ft tall . I looked at it sometimes and just in awe how l was blessed to be in the right place at the right time . I wish l could get it to one of these U tube channels . ?? Somebody tell me how ? Awesome photo 👍✝️ ps . ice covered branches add to the scenery too
