I was rinsing the engines out on my boat a couple years ago, turned my back for a few seconds and then turned back to unhook the hose and came almost nose to nose with a massive manatee that put its head on the transom and just stared at me. Almost had a heart attack. They're gentle but it doesn't mean its not startling when a 1000lb animal sneaks up on you hahaha.

Definitely thought it was a Nile sized American Crocodile at first

They'll come around the boat docks at my friend's place in Florida. They drink the (fresh) water dripping off his boat when he rinses it off.

Went on a snorkeling trip to see Manatees, even still when I saw the first one while underwater I initially panicked, they are huge and seem to appear out of no where.

The fact that people play on their phones no matter the environment.

I'm always on alert & aware of my surroundings when I'm in nature especially on the water. You can not be distracted when other creatures are watching. The scars are from boaters hitting them.

They love doing that. While snorkeling, I had one circle me at the edge of visibility, then come straight at me. Pucker factor moment until you can see it is just a manatee.
