Thanks man! I first came across his drawings when I was 12, I think - I remember feeling very confused by the enigmatic mark-making at first, but his odd, highly personal visual universe slowly crept its way into a corner of my pscyche soon thereafter!

yes indeed, the arte povera element was particularly prominent in his later work! have you seen the videos of him painting with sand, mud, marble powder and whatnot in his studio towards the end of his life? they're quite fascinating! I remember being lent an old VHS documentary on his work when I was 14 or so (he was still alive and working!), it made quite a strong impression on me...
