Everyone knows Shih Tzus are the best!
They truly are ❤
I remember Tara working so hard to walk down the aisle on your wedding day. Thanks for sharing. Much love.
Unfortunately, I never was able to walk down the Aisle. I used my wheelchair. I decided to focus on the day instead of struggling. It not only changed my focus to our wedding, enjoying every minute of it, it also helped with pain management. Honestly, no one wants to be in pain on their wedding day. :)
Will the HELPS side be focused only on helping US citizens or will it be international? As you know, I am Canadian.
Not in the beginning but hopefully later.. :)
Thanks for sharing! I get feeling like all the surgery and therapy is too much of a hassle and if you've got a life without being able to walk then I understand. I did want to mention selective dorsal rhizotomy though in case you hadn't heard of it because it seems to be more effective than SPML this lady shared her experience doing it at 50: m.th-cam.com/video/OPIN1aOrkuI/w-d-xo.html&pp=ygUXNTAgeWVhciBvbGQgc2RyIHBhdGllbnQ%3D
I know all about SDR, but as an adult, I didn’t qualify because I couldn’t walk unassisted and that’s a requirement only for adults. Honestly, I just wanted to reduce my spasticity remove it altogether just to make life easier and to be in less pain. The SPML surgery for a lot of people it last for years it just wasn’t my experience. I don’t know it if it was because I was in my 40s when I had it done or that I’ve pretty much been a full-time wheelchair user since I’ve been 19 prior to that a part-time wheelchair user growing up. And when I did and I useless term, loosely walk, I had braces and walkers finally graduated to canes I could never pick up my feet. It was a real struggle to walk. I think the SPML Surgery is perfect for someone who can walk pretty decent, but just has some trouble then I think it would be even more effective then for somebody with my level of disability
That makes sense. I appreciate your sharing your experience I am 39 with hemiparesis and very tense right now I am trying to weigh my options I think SDR and PERCs may be the best way forward for me. I am ambulatory though I did read SDR works for non ambulatory people the surgeon I was considering actually prefers operating on quadraplegics I never got to meet him so i'm not sure why but I thought that was interesting and he takes adults. I just read that SDR works the best for diplegia but I know everyone is different and I did read it can be much less effective for non ambulatory patients I think it's a good idea to ask around though because SDR is relatively new and they seem to keep making developments
@@kristinewestly1263You are right about spastic dipledgia & SDR - For children ambulatory or not it changes lives. For adults you have to be able to walk unassisted in all areas. I have friends I grew up with that had SDR as adults and it changed their lives. Both have spastic dipledgia but I do know that Hemis have had it too. It's odd that a doctor would do SDR on a quad it typically doesn't last for them or go well. Be careful which doc you choose if you decide that route.
You go girl
Thank you!
Goodness I'm in tears
Awe
You have very cute fur babies

This is so awesome!! I loved when I borrowed my mom's ATV many years ago, I use to take my kids down the back roads, we lived in the boonies as I called it lol. We had so much fun. Doing stuff like that and when I drive, I call my car, my freedom, because it can take my places where my legs can't. love ur videos can't wait to see all the adventures you will be on.
It was a lot of fun. It was a little tricky to turn, though. I think we need to adjust something. :)
❤
