Play the Journey from BOSTON'S Don't look Back album. Memorize and then add your own classic twist to it. Turn it up.... Play along with the record a few times to get your fingers going. Then, go into More than a feeling, should sinc right up into same key I think. VERY COOL
Nice set up just needs to be run about 75,000 times louder 😀
Good for you.
Good job boys!
Yeah man, that’s the sound, you got it.
Thank buddy!
I love this. Car, If it were mine I would drive it everywhere
Thank you for this very tasty vid.
Thanks, man!
Prob my fav song on the Lp. Nice, Is it possible he used a capo first fret? Maybe they sped the tape up? Tuning the gtr up is very unusual..
There’s absolutely no Capo used in this stuff, especially the lead guitars using all the bends and vibrato bar. I believe they did speed up the tape for probably tempo reasons after the recording was made and they wanted to save it.
I had the distortion generator. Fool to sell it. Even in high school I knew it had a special sound but I didn’t like how it wasn’t a pedal
Ha ha : Have my old Rockman X-100 into (2) DSL 100's half stacks in stereo . Every thing sounds better even Sabbath !
Nice tone !!!!
Thanks buddy!
hey tony now ya need toms hyper space pedal wish he would mass produce it sounds great keep rockin tony from western ny thanks
I’m working on that pedal!
good stuff thanks tony that first lead break baffled me but your gettin me straight i was there musclecars no bra tube tops fall of 76 i was in 9th grade and this album got heavy rotation in buffalo ny great time to be alive dig the channel brother
Thanks brother! It’s my pleasure! You’re in my age group- we all loved that era, the summers, the girls, and no bills! Stay well brother!
What is that tremolo you have ?
Floyd Rose FRX- I love it. I’ve installed them on (4) of my Paul’s.
One of the Chitty Bang Bangs of all time
sleek as a thoroughbred! Love it

Totally classic sounds
Awesome. Just the first minute of guitar playing and I'm smiling. Can't help but love that sound from a pure source. Thanks
I agree wholeheartedly! I also love watching the tower of blinking lights too! LoL
@@anthonygarofalo4151 Are these setups still available these days for sale? or is it pretty rare?
Thanks for posting this, Boston is my absolute favorite. That sounds great, my parents got me the Soloist for Christmas years ago and I still play thru it today. Great playing btw.🤘
@@stevenbruce2659 thanks buddy!!
Another cool pedal is the Colombo Rocker 83. Check out Brett Kingman’s demo video.
I heard it in person and played it, I honestly wasn’t impressed for the Boston application. The video shown had lots of EQ and echo to doctor it up, but it’s ok for the money.
@ Ok cool. Always better to hear in person. I’m loving thr GOAT chorus you got.
A Les Paul with a whammy bar. Love it! Sounds great, Tony!
Thanks buddy!
Awesome man.
Those distortion generators sucked all the bottom out of your sound
@@glenlapwing8468 SRD company made millions on them, and countless recoding artists and performers used them in the studio and live. Good EQ and pickups help.
I loved the one I had. It was like a tube screamer on ‘roids
I absolutely hate that Boston guitar tone.
Great if you play in a Boston tribute band. Largely useless for anything else. It's a cool collection of vintage gear, nonetheless.
@@satinwhip thanks- this gear was used by everyone from EVH to Def Leppard, Steve Vai and so on!
Awesome setup! Great live, I bet.
Ah ah, love old school stuff. Reminds me, in the 90’s my father used to bring me in mtl to a university student for guitar teaching. Back in the days I paid 20$/hour. The guy owned the delay module. He only had this and probably a Japanese boss chorus pedal. He was a jazz player so I didn’t used much artifice. Damn the guy was good, I saw him reading and playing a chart form Larry Carlton’s . He wanted me to improve so I can do the same. I’m not a Jazz guitarist at all but he’s the reason why I got as far where I am on guitar. 80/90’s generation are the best!!!
Thanks for commenting!
Awesome if you really wanna sound like Boston.
Hard to believe Tom Schultz , (Boston's guitar player) was a highly educated musician/engineer from MIT that developed these modules along with RockMan... It may sound dated now, but these tones took days and hours to create back in the days before such technology was developed and put in an instant gratification box ... The guy was a pioneer...Tom Schultz... Fine display.
It sounds good
I remember when this stuff first came out. You were happening if you had any one of those units in your setup
Minty. Most of that Rockman stuff is beat to 💩
How do you like that FRX Floyd?
Truthfully- I wouldn’t do without it. Easy to install and if feels and sounds fantastic. I’ve done 4 of my Les Paul’s already.
I have a generator. I wish Dunlop would put more effort into reproducing the Rockman Line. Do a floor processor with all things Rockman.
Do you have the switch on the back of 500 in full range speaker or standard?
@@salahbaker4089 FR
@@anthonygarofalo4151 Even with Full Stack Rockman, I used standard. it just emphasize high end hz.
Both ways actually sound pretty good.
Awesome playing and tone!
Thanks!!
i remember playing through the big rack with all those modules in a music store in Beverly MA back in the day. my first stereo rig experience. i was pretty floored and wound up eventually owning the stereo echo and graphic eq modules, but that was it. a few years prior in the mid-80's i had the Rockman Soloist too. i also have a friend who had the boombox-style amp with the detachable speakers. was his go-to for a few years in the mid-90's. cool stuff, unlike anything else before, or since.
A great backstory! Does any of this gear still exist in anyone’s collection? I collect this stuff as well.
@@anthonygarofalo4151 you can find it on Reverb but the prices have gotten pretty crazy. As usual, there was a time when people were practically giving the SR&D gear away. today, not so much. forgot to mention in my post that the stereo rig was also comprised of the SR&D 412 cabs.
Nice playing, btw. What speakers are you playing through?
British Celestion Neo Dogs
I played through one of those 30 years ago in my friend's music store. Sounded huge!! 💚🎸
Always one of my Favorite Glen Campbell songs,,this one and Galveston. This one is especially timely now while there are Linemen from all over The US working so hard down south in Appalachia to restore power in the wake of Hurricane Helene. God Bless All of them!!! Great job covering this Tony!!!
Thanks buddy! Yes indeed.
Love Boston. An all-time great 70s sound. I've heard the Rockman was used on many recordings after Boston, including Def Leppard.
Rock on!
No comments yet bogus keep on rocking man! This was great
Sounding great! Rock on!
Nice tone!!!!!
do you know the song "burning carbon monoxide indoors can kill you" was a big hit for them back in the day
