There's not a project we're afraid of! We're co-owners in a Restaurant, Kayak Rental Outfitter, and Campground called Smooth Rapids. That keeps us very busy. We've remodeled and maintain travel trailers that we rent. The restoration of two golf carts, a bass boat, and a pontoon have filled in the gaps of our need for projects. We also take epic road trips in our off-season. Our trip to the Grand Canyon spawned our idea for our Skoolie build. We purchased 10 acres in the Cumberland Plateau area of McMinnville, TN. We current live there in our Skoolie with our two golden retrievers Doug and Levi. We recently drove to Niagra Falls, and when we got back all we talked about was a shipping container home. This channel is not going to be a step by step tutorial of our shipping container house build. Rather, we hope it inspires others to try something they've always wanted to do. Good Enough! Don't get paralysis by analysis! Grab some tools and get to work! We hope you enjoy our antics!
Cutting Out Walls and Building Floors
Time to go inside! Starting to get a feel of the interior layout. Had to call in Jase AKA "The Grateful Welder" to help cut out the walls. Started framing the sub floor for the center section.

Rooftop Deck Progress

Got all the deck boards down for our rooftop deck. Next up, the remaining windows on the center section. This has been our favorite project so far.

We started on our roof top deck on one side of our container home project. It's still very hot and we're still in kayak season. Hopefully the pace will pick up soon.

Converting Campers to Houseboats!

Metal Roof Going On

We started with the metal roof. Looking forward to being dried in so we can cut out the center wall sections of the containers and move this project inside.

Framing out the middle section of our shipping container home. Working or way up. Go the pontoon back from the shop. Took it for a test drive.

Flooding slowed us down a bit. Worked on the Pontoon. Scouted the Collins River on the flat bottom, and set the containers on the piers with a forklift. Busy couple of weeks!

What is the advantage of the containers as opposed to just building it all out of wood? As a carpenter I enjoy watching your channel and didhit the like and subscribed.
It’s unconventional which we like. We turned a school bus into a camper which was fun and a lot of work. This is a much bigger project. I guess we just liked the container home concept rather than a full on wood build. Thanks for watching!

Love what you are doing but would love a little more detail. Like how did you secure the long walls to the can? Sealent? The can roof arches in both ways, how did you waterproof the wall from the can on the middle edges? Keep rocking from Elk City Idaho.
