ST on Tour
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 10 ธ.ค. 2010
After contemplating getting a sports cam to put on the bike to film the roads and tours that I go on throughout the year, I have finally invested in an SJ4000 which fits the bill quite nicely and it didn't break the bank. These are the resultant videos of my trips
Whistle Stop Tour of Scotland 2023 Day 03 - The Honda ST1300 Goes Home
With the bad weather of the day before nearly forgotten it was time get back in the saddle of the ST1300 and head back to Nottinghamshire from Applecross.
Luckily the weather had improved but it just meant heading south instead of continuing north was bitter sweet.
Another long days ride, nearly 500 miles in total but made so much easier with the comfort of the Honda ST1300 Pan European.
Video goes 'slightly wonky' in a small section mid way through for some reason but the master file was corrupt and I couldn't re-edit the footage.

Whistle Stop Tour of Scotland 2023 - The Full Applecross. Bad weather and unintentional off-roading
มุมมอง 1416 หลายเดือนก่อน
This is the full unedited video of our journey over the Bealach na Ba to Applecross. The weather wasn't great, lets put it that way. What doesn't come across is the high winds we had to endure along with the lack of visibility. Object fixation nearly put pay to my trip and bike with some unintentional off-roading towards a ditch. If you want to do this trip, please do it when the weathers bette...
Whistle Stop Tour of Scotland 2023 Day 02 - From a Pickle to a Soup
มุมมอง 1537 หลายเดือนก่อน
This one seemed to go from being in a pickle to being completely in the soup. We left Glen Etive under a grey sky and apart from a brief appearance the sun decides to hide from us for most of the day. We take in Glenfinnan (may or may not have been famous prior to Harry Potter) on the way to Mallaig only then to have to make a U turn there and head back to Fort William. And from there it's a gr...
Whistle Stop Tour of Scotland 2023 Day 01
มุมมอง 1.4K9 หลายเดือนก่อน
Due to the lack of annual leave from work I could only afford to take one day and so therefore, we left early on a Saturday morning for a quick three day blast up to Scotland and back. From home in the East Midlands it was a long first day that ended up in Glen Etive, famous for James Bond's Skyfall. It was stunning weather, scenery and roads but not without a little unexpected mishap along the...
Normandy Motorcycle Tour - The Long Road Home
มุมมอง 87111 หลายเดือนก่อน
The long trip home from Normandy begins, taking us back to the Channel Tunnel. Once back in Blighty, Darren and I go out separate ways, him straight back up to Nottinghamshire, whilst I take a detour to Wiltshire to see my mum and brother. Not without issues though, as the Cardo system packs up and we miss a stop off point in France and the camera a card issues persist. Although that issue has ...
Normandy Motorcycle Tour - Thursday Day 05
มุมมอง 238ปีที่แล้ว
Apologies - I completely forgot that I still had two video's of the Normandy Trip left to edit and upload. So here is the penultimate day in Normandy where we let the sat nav do it's thing and take us on a magical mystery tour of rural Normandy and on to Bayeux. We avoid the needle craft and sowing exhibition and instead head towards the Museum of the Battle of Normandy and hopefully avoid the ...
Normandy Motorcycle Tour - Day 04 Omaha Beach
มุมมอง 281ปีที่แล้ว
Finally managed to get round to upload the next episode of the Normandy bike trip. We follow in the footsteps of Private Ryan and hit Omaha Beach and the American Cemetery. Then it's on to Pointe du Hoc that the Rangers took on D-Day. Not all fun and games though as the continuing issues with the memory card persisted and we got caught out at the end of the day. So sit back and enjoy.
Motorcycle Tour to Normandy - Tuesday Day 03 - The Beaches
มุมมอง 1.1Kปีที่แล้ว
From our base in Houlgate nr Cabourg on the Normandy coast we head west to take in the first three beaches, Sword, Juno and Gold. It gets a bit blowy during the day which doesn't sit well when you're on two wheels. It's hard to imagine what this area looked like back in 1944 but its still sobering to think what happened on June 6th and the subsequent weeks after. Music Start your Engines - Etha...
Motorcycle Tour to Normandy - Monday Day 02 The Somme and down to Normandy
มุมมอง 675ปีที่แล้ว
Today see's us going from our stop in Arras, through the Somme area, on our way down to Normandy. We take in the Thiepval Memorial before heading through Somme and rural France down to Normandy, where we have Sat Nav issues, get split up and have some close attention from a taxi driver. It's all fun and games when you're on tour. We arrive in Normandy and take a look at the Pegasus Bridge Museu...
Normandy Bike Tour Day 01 - Sunday
มุมมอง 682ปีที่แล้ว
Day 1 of my first tour in 5 years. It was an absolute joy to get back out on the road again. This time I had an accomplice on the trip, Darren, and we hit France in early September 2022. This was Darren's first trip abroad on a bike and he's already looking forward to the next one this June. I'd upgraded to a GoPro Hero 7 Black and this was my first proper use of it. Not all plain sailing as th...
Channel Update and Preview of Normandy Tour 2022
มุมมอง 102ปีที่แล้ว
A quick channel update video. Unfortunately, due to circumstances in life and lockdowns etc. over the past few years activity on the bike has been very minimal. But hopefully that is all changing now and trips abroad and in the UK are back on the cards. One trip already in the bag is Normandy 2022 and we have already planned a June 2023 trip to Germany. Hopefully there will be more as we get fu...
Sth France Day 07 Pt 3 - Col d'Izoard

The journey north back home is underway and one of the best days I've had on a motorcycle continues. Whether it was the roads, the scenery or the stunning weather but this day just keeps on giving. On towards the Col d'Izoard and the Casse Deserte in the French Alps.

I'm pleased to see someone else is as useless as me at pairing intercom units.
@ianedgerton8219 yeah what an absolute nightmare. Annoyingly we had met a week or so earlier to get this sorted and managed it no problem. But this time - no chance.
Think that’s Loch Long that you are going round heading towards Arrochar in the first part.
@racheltaylor6578 From when we pass the Finnart Oil Terminal at 11.13 until 13.25 we rode along side Loch Long. Beforehand, from Helensburgh to Faslane was Gare Loch. Got to admit, this was the first time we'd ridden this road as we'd always gone up via Loch Lomond A82 before. We've missed out on a great stretch of road.
what road are you on at 11:40 point?
Hi, it was the A814 north of Garelochhead, which runs up the side of, I think, Loch Long to Arrochar.
@@kevinrsvr thanks. One for a future ride.
Great video 👍🏻
Cheers man. That really is much appreciated.
Just subbed, will be watching the tour when I finish work, looks great ❤👍🏻
Cheers mate. Yes it was good to get away and cross off another one off the bucket list. It was also so good to get away on tour again after 5yrs because of life commitments getting in the way. I'll get the other episodes uploaded soon as well.
Great video and thanks for sharing. 👍My grandad fought in Burma during the second world war and for three years nobody heard anything from him and from what my dad has said was a complete basket case when he returned home!
Yeah, we can't thank that generation enough for the sacrifices they made during that time. My mate Darren's grandad and dad both fought for our country.
Really enjoyed your video and look forward to the next ones 👍
Thanks Alan. I'm trying to get the others edited and rendered ready for TH-cam but like all things, life has a way of holding things up.
Is this the last one ?
I think there is some more footage from a couple of more days and I think most of the Grossglockner footage is ok too although that's when I started to have issues. Because I have a very small budget and one simple little camera, it started to play up and I lost a lot of footage on the way home. Had mic issues on the last trip we did. Great footage but sod all sound. I'll see if I can dig anything more up and try and piece it together.
Do you have a pillion ?
Yes, the missus came with me for the whole trip this time.
Thats my evening sorted, cheers mate.
No problem mate. Glad you like it. This was an early go at this vlogging lark. Although I'm not great at it I think its nice to try and inspire folks to get abroad on their bikes. It's not as daunting as I first thought and some of the roads and scenery is out of this world.
l want to do exactly this but Mrs is having none of it.
That's a shame. It works well for us, I love racking the miles up whereas the missus doesn't and flying to wherever we're going suits her just fine. The next planned trip should be the Pyrenees and Andorra and she'll fly down to mid France and I'll pick her up from the airport at Limoges (Ryanair special)
Which sat nav are you using and is it any good, for France?
I've got the TomTom Rider 400. I use it with the TYRE navigation programme (which is now know as My route App I believe). It means that I can import routes that I've created on the PC and then load them onto the TomTom. A word of caution though. If you haven't set up enough way points the satnav will still try to send you via the shortest, fastest or most economical route whatever you have it set on. Many a time its tried to send me down small side roads when I know that I needed to stay on the road I was on. But I quickly learnt to put waypoints at virtually every main junction or turn and have had no issues in France or anywhere else in Europe to be fair.Don't know how it compares with the GarminIf you're riding in France remember to disable the speed camera option on the sat nav as it's illegal in France.
@@kevinrsvr thanks for the reply that's useful info... 👍👍 I'll give it a go..
