Those houses tell a story of economic stagnation and no circulation of money only hoarding it until eventually it runs out bit by bit year by year. I suppose those people didnt know how to generate money so out of the fear of running out they hoarded their inheritance.

I think you found a diamond in the garden, one of two things will happen in the next 10 years, which are very important at your stage of life, either the whole economy will go to shit, [probably reality} or it will right itself and people will start rebuilding these beautiful places. Either way, to you it's just money. We can't take it with us , so spend it on something that you will enjoy every moment! I think that place is spectacular, and there are probably a lot of great workers , for much less money, you might even put an ad in the papers for students to come and do work for room and board while they visit spain, they work days a week and have the rest of the time to do what they want. They can sleep there free and you make provide 2 meals a day?

15 minutes in. Most of these "houses" are gravel pits in the form of a house. Total yuck on steroids. No wonder the sales agents don't even show. This should tell you what the locals think of these gravel pits. Desperate birds...... they need to move the chicks out.

At 9 minutes in you have me. Buy the church for 10,000 Euros, fix it up. Build interior walls with insulation, electricity and waterworks and you might have something worth purchasing.

Those phots on the wall are of Missing Persons. Those abandoned buildings can house squatters or drug addicts who go missing.... thus why the Police post those Missing Persons posters.

Strip the pan tiles off and sell them back home. I paid 20e for a big one. They make good rustic wall lamps. Strip the roof, doors etc and don’t go back ha ha

Have to say, I got dragged into house restorations in "siesta" countries for a while and considering to move over, but I really enjoyed the idea behind (to set up a co-working place abroad). Maybe one day I will make my decision and reach for you for inspiration and tips :) Good luck

the tv is a cathrode ray tube. youtube does originate in the name for a telly but its just the one tube inside, the big one. dont drop it.

these types of constructions with mud and straw were common in both Spain and Romania, almost ALL in villages. I´m from Romania and live in Spain. Italians, the French and Greeks had more rocks from the mountains, and proximity to stone, think its the same in Portugal, more stone. They obviously don´t keep well but they´re easy to repair, just add more mud with good clay content and straw.
