    Check the bulb, then look at the socket to see if it's corroded and then check with a meter to be sure you have power inside the socket itself. Dielectric grease in each would be a good idea too. Good luck.

    How do you start an engine when your carburetor is not hooked up and not primed?

    • @TheSalvagersGarage
      @TheSalvagersGarage ปีที่แล้ว

      Your throttle linkage does not have to be hooked up to start a motor. It can all be hand controlled at the engine for just running purposes. If you use an electric fuel pump it will easily prime itself just from power.

    • @TheSalvagersGarage
      @TheSalvagersGarage ปีที่แล้ว

      If you plug all of your vacuum ports, you can get a base tuning on your carburetor and hand control your linkage. But once your vacuum ports are all connected settings may change a little bit

    My horn would go off when I turned as well. Same steering wheel setup. It was the female connector under the horn cap. Basically when I turned the wheel, the wire would ground on the column shaft bolt. I had to bend it almost straight, then a slight bend at the end. Worked like a charm, no more honking when I turn left or right.

    my float screw won't stop leaking...tips?

    • @TheSalvagersGarage
      @TheSalvagersGarage ปีที่แล้ว

      Those gaskets are very fragile I had to replace mine twice when I was first adjusting it. I would say just get a new set of gaskets and be really careful with it especially when it gets wet from fuel you don’t want to put too much pressure on it because that screw will eat right through it when it is wet.

    Curious, did it fix your leak?

    • @TheSalvagersGarage
      @TheSalvagersGarage ปีที่แล้ว

      It slowed it down but did not completely fix it. I did later realize though I that my oil pressure is EXTREMELY high. Cruising around 2k RPM I am running around 80-90 pounds of oil pressure with 5w-30 motor oil. I am not exactly sure why it is so high but I’m sure that with the pressure being so high it is certainly not helping the oil leak.

    • @brianc7646
      @brianc7646 ปีที่แล้ว

    I had the same problem. Mine was a fuel starvation problem in hard cornering the fuel pickup would get out of the fuel in the center of the tank. But only with half or quarter of a tank. Might look at that??? Took the tank apart and baffled around the pickup. Also put a lower section in the tank to sink the pickup lower into the fuel. Worked for me. My Chevelle never starved for fuel in a hard corner again.
