I got mine a few weeks ago from Rudy. There was a yellow post-it note inside that smelled like tacos and had some unidentifiable stains on it that read like this; " 6.9 year anny scam 1- pump 2- dump 3- profit 3.69- buy off influencers 4- Acapulco resort with MTGLion" Idk what thats supposed to mean but it got a 6.5 in grading so Im happy, its now a 1/1 worth almost $69,420.69

I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels that way about collector boosters. Not only does it diminish the value of the rares, but it gets rid of the hunt in draft and set boosters. Now you buy the draft booster for the draft experience, Set Boosters to build decks, or collector boosters for the hunt. Gone are the days where 1 product does all.

Why would anyone buy this?
At first blush, I thought, "Why would anyone buy a lottery ticket?". Then, because reasons, "There's more to this -- people like Rudy. People want to support his channel. People like me." At the end of the day, Rudy tells it real. I like that. I want to support that kind of real. He's not always right. None of us are. I'm a patron of his and recognizing when you can be part of something, even a one--off sort of event like this and have some shot at doing well, it's a conscious choice to say "F it, I'll roll the dice."

Why is the 69 on the Greed Monster so good?
69 on any of the pins equals a case of a TCG from Rudy. The greed monster is a a case of 1st edition Monarch from FaB.

this 6.9 year release highlights a certain interesting observation I have made. In my time line Rudy has been on TH-cam at least 8 years.

This dude got super lucky to get the monarch boxes. Most buyers paid $700 for ~$50 to $100 worth of Rudy's least desired packs (notice the collector pack was balder's gate- the least valuable set we've had in a while, which Rudy could not offload quick enough). I was a patron. This really blew me away, though. I understand there is value in the unboxing experience, and the novelty of the crazy dice and pins he's offering here, but that experience and novelty needs to be worth around $600 to you to make up for the deficit between the actual product you're getting and the price you pay. It absolutely mystifies me that anybody is happy with these boxes. And one of the unboxings I watched, You can just hear the guy deflating as he realizes on camera how badly he got hosed

The thing about Rudy is, he's a scammer - openly so. He worked out that the only way to make money in MtG is to sell bullshit to suckers, though, so he's smarter than any of his dumb fans, at least. He only sold this to PATRONS? People who give him money already? And your reward was to get scammed by Rudy some more on this dog shit product?
That awaken the woods card at 20 bucks is pretty pricy, and Myrel, Shield of Argive is really powerfull, gotta bring those 2 up tommorow . Sorry I missed your comment on the live stream this morning, it is a good one. thanks Alan!

I'm just missing something I think. I seen lots of Rudy videos and he himself very very genuinely hated the 30th anniversary product. He would never sell a box of these contents for $700 on the same token while genuinely meaning his mtg 30th video. He's always been for the people and a fair person. He wouldn't sell some dead end box worth less than $100 for $700 for fans who give him money just as a content creator. That makes no sense. So clearly I'm missing something. Is the 69 pin redeemable for something? The pins must be more expensive material than I'm aware of or maybe they are actual partial gold or plated and retain value. Rudy isn't dumb and wouldn't make a dumb product. But I'm not a patron. He admits it in all his videos. Says always seek professional financial advice etc etc. He doesn't have some false ego he's a celebrity worth money. It would contradict almost every video.
There's a lot to unpack here: The pins are redeemable -- and those ending with 69 are redeemable for different things, depending on which pin you get the number ending with 69. In this case, with the greed monster, I get a case of 1st Edition Monarch. There are a number of collectibles in this product that aren't anywhere else - for example, signed blank cold foil equipment cards by James, the creator of Flesh and Blood. For Magic the Gathering, signed and limited quantity Beta Lands that were altered by Sue Ellen Brown. They are very limited in quantity and exquisite pieces of eye candy. There's also the chance to pull a GemKeeper Rudy card - which offers the holder of said card discounts on Rudy's Monthly Patreon deals. The bottom layer has the opportunity for a limited edition Metazoo Christmas Rudy card - only about 1000 of them produced. In addition, there's other stuff - including collector boosters, pokemon boosters, promo items from Flesh and Blood, amongst others. This was a one and done - Rudy's never doing this again. He said as much in one of his videos - the amount of time, planning, and sheer volume of work to do it - it took a lot to make it it a reality. One thing I would say as far as value goes - start adding up the value on some of these items - What's a case of 1st edition Monarch going for these days? What's a collector booster worth? How much does a Christmas Rudy promo card go for on Ebay? What's a pack of Morningtide worth? Every box has value to some degree or another. Some stuff is going to be worth a lot more - others, like the Sue Ellen Brown alters, who knows? Was it worth it? I think so. For those patrons that bought into, I think they wanted to show their support and enjoy the game. This was a form of interaction that could only happen between him and his patrons - and not every TH-cam content creator does or could do something as ambitious and, imo, cool! Look around and tell me of ANY other content creator that has done anything like THIS.
This was a dumb product. I was a patron. Most people got hosed. No 69 pin and maybe a few odd packs worth 50$, and no Rudy claus. This was the best box I've seen on TH-cam thus far.
Yep... 6.9 years later I cancelled my Patreon with Rudy. Went to pound town big time.
There were highly exclusive alters that were not opened in this box as well. Also that Rudy Claus card is worth over $700

Very nice opening! I've watched a few and hadn't seen anyone get a 69 pin; congrats! I have seen a few Rudy Claus' though, so nice hit there. I'm still waiting for mine to arrive so I can make a video too!!

I am so confused by the comments and everything. This is worth like 150 at best if your a fan? Why is a 69 pin good? Do you redeem it for something? Did the 69 pin indicate he would get an old school booster? That was the most expensive item Serious question. I'm assuming I'm missing part of the process because nothing in here was inherently exciting?

Each pin is redeemable for a different sealed case of product. The Greed Monster he has is redeemable for a case of 1st edition Monarch Flesh and Blood. He sends the pin to Rudy, Rudy signs the pin and sends it back to him along with his sealed case of Flesh and Blood. Amazing hit!
