Nothing is coherent with Rotenberg. He wants to win and play players to win but he doesnt play Demidov which is one of the best player in the team? He gives PP to players that make multiple mistakes per game (#17...). Its definitly because Demidov doesnt want to sign and thank god!

Stupid fighting is a childish reaction, only shows ignorance. Fighting in hockey is only to entertain the crowd , to make owners more money . Great podcast guys and Shayne I enjoy your input on all "The Sick" podcasts. I am not going to talk about the Reinbacher and Laine injuries as we are all feeling awful for them and wish them a speedy recovery. Grant, living in Europe now I have seen Kapanen play many times including at the IIHF Championships. He is NHL ready however IMO there would be too much pressure for him to play on the 2nd line as a winger given he is not a big time goal scorer. IMO Habs should now split the 1st line since there is little offensive production with Laine out. So perhaps Suzuki and Caufield play together and Dach plays with Slaf? A tandem could work better than an iffy 2nd line. Great points Grant regarding SKA. I never thought they were thinking of Demidov's best interests, why would they given he wants away after this season?!

The NHL is a joke of a sport league. It will never grow beyond where it’s at now. So many people and work friends don’t watch hockey and they all say the same thing…l it’s too violent and are disgusted by this league. Women don’t even think of hockey. I personally believe some actions during games are against the law and until a player takes a team or individual to court it will not change. So stop complaining you pathetic talking heads and start trashing the NHL brass to change the game.

The opening comment was ill-intentioned and insulting. In Montreal we do not defend vicious hits even when it’s a player on our team. Think about that and maybe our host will offer us an apology

not intentional to laine, as bad as it seemed. i dont think Pare tried to do it.. just was simply trying to prevent the zone entry from happening.. he refused to let laine get inside position on him, and collides with him knee on knee.. just a terrible result, but it's hockey, fast game, things happen in split second. just hope Laine is ok, and it's nothing serious sustained to his knee. :/

  • @ubasic

I've long believed that the NHL rink is too small in width, 85 feet compared to the 98 feet in Europe or 100 feet for the Olympics. Players are bigger, stronger, more skilled but there's no room to skate or make plays. Player safety should be the priority, I want to watch ALL the great players from both teams play a good contest. Adding a mere 7-8 feet would give skilled players time and room to produce - especially smaller guys - and reduce injuries. In 1998 a study showed there is less fighting on the bigger surface as well. Let the players play, we're paying for it, no?

About Laine I will say this, it’s possible for your leg to bend like that and a big injury doesn’t happen… I wouldn’t get my hopes up but it’s happened before in football as I have heard, where it looked really bad but the player was only out for 6 weeks… Best Case Scenario Laine is out 4-8 weeks.

Looks like these injuries are going to be what makes this rebuild fail…. At some point this team has to get better luck, But who’s next 🤦🏼‍♂️ I know hockey is physical and injuries happen but it’s been happening too much with this team and it’s really annoying like so much promise for this season and boom, Gone just like that in a game that doesn’t even matter… NHL lineups should play against NHL lineups in the pre season and rookies should play against rookies and journeyman. This just sucks… I still believe this season will be fun overall and I think the Habs will still be better this season, They probably don’t end up in the bottom 10 of the league, But playoff hopes are completely lost now…I say they finish at around 13-14th overall… it’s still a good draft with size and skill so that will be fun or maybe they move their pick for another big piece to the puzzle like they did with Dach.

@@glaframb Laine is an injury prone overpaid baby. He can barely hang in the big leagues and you're comparing him to Matthews the top scorer in the game? 😂 And it already has happened to Matthews. He's had hand injuries, concussions etc so calm down. We lost him in 3 crucial playoff games vs the Bruins that could have been the difference.

It’s ok Pare didn’t want to answer the bell against Arber, he can let Florian have a go. Yes let Kapanen have a shot at roster spot. & Bring Demidov over to Montreal already

Well look at it this way. Treating Demidov so crappy means he'll want to get the hell out of there no way he would resign to be treated horribly.

They have to get Demidov out of Russia. As a 2+ billion dollar organization, find a way to be responsible for the development of your greatest prospect in your system. Just find a way.
