Story behind Onam Celebration:
Long ago, Kerala was ruled by King Mahabali, a wise and beloved ruler. His reign brought peace and prosperity to the land, but his growing power worried the gods. Lord Vishnu, in the form of a dwarf Brahmin named Vamana, approached Mahabali and asked for three paces of land. When granted, Vamana grew enormous, covering the earth and sky in two steps. For the third step, Mahabali humbly offered his head. Pleased, Vishnu allowed him to visit his people once a year. This annual visit is celebrated as Onam, a joyful festival of harvest and gratitude.
