Etude op 10 no 2, "El Montuno!"
Chopin Etude op. 10 no. 1, "Boogie-Woogie"
Combining Frédéric Chopin's uniquely elegant virtuosity from the early 19th century with mid 20th century jazz, the iconic "Waterfall" étude becomes the "Boogie-Woogie"! Includes a dash of Russian romantic lyricism in the middle section. The right hand is Chopin's original étude, as it must be, so the left had gets all the new fun stuff!
Dave Brubeck's All My Hope, from his "Mass: To Hope!"
This is one of my favourite tunes by Dave Brubeck, inexplicably nearly unknown. I discovered it when Dave invited me to hear his quartet perform his "Mass: To Hope!' at Carnegie Hall, with full orchestra and choir. A little background on that: on a lark, I'd sent Dave a live radio recording of my concerto for jazz piano trio and orchestra, "Chorale and Variations on a Theme of Dave Brubeck", ne...
Besame Mucho, en homage à Osman Koulenovich
My impromptu version of the classic song by Consuelo Velázquez from my Facebook Livestream concert in honour of Osman Koulenovich, the late owner of Café Sarajevo. He always asked me to play it whenever I was there on their wonderful 100 yr old, mostly functioning concert upright piano :). Thanks for all the great times and wonderful memories. Rest in peace Osman.
Chopin Etude in C# minor, op. 10 no. 4, "The Torrent", arr. Matt Herskowitz
My jazz arrangement of this high-energy Etude, folded into the complete original piece by Frédéric Chopin. I had a blast creating this arrangement, setting it in a variety of different jazz styles, following wherever the music naturally seemed to want to go. Enjoy the ride!

Wow~ Brilliant arrangement and performance~~!!
Bravoooo!!!!!!
Waterfall ❎ Tsunami ☑️
🤣🤣🤣 this is awesome
If Mr. Matt have recorded this kind of arr of classical , i would like to buy the CDs..
Fantastic. Chopin should be very amused by the invention. And the technical and sensitive performance is superb. Fantastic!
Somebody must like eating Chinese food with pizza.
Did you compose this? It’s written and played brilliantly. Your technique is amazing and it sounds super fun. I could imagine dancing to it, but probably breaking my legs because it’s fast.
@@Stint. Thanks Stint, glad you liked it! Yes, I arranged it- it’s part of my Chopin Jazz Transcendental Etudes project. Some of them are fun, like this one, others are more serious. I just recorded a set of 9 jazz etudes last month, they should be released by the end of 2025. Lol, yeah, I’m all for dancing, go for it! - just maybe not too near the furniture!
something went wrong mentally
@@amadeushsu1981 ? Mentally wrong? With what, you? Nothing’s “wrong” here, mentally or otherwise. It’s called having some creative fun while creating a fun new challenge. Irreverent, sure, guilty. But if you’re talking about something mentally wrong as a response, I suspect looking in the mirror would give you some clarity. You don’t have to like it, I already know many people won’t and don’t, but do me a favour and refrain from high-horse psychoanalysis- those who overreact to silly things say much more about themselves than the silly thing itself.
Bella tecnica
The additional support of left hand from 1:02 is soooo delicious. So addictive.
What an abomination.
Wow
impressive
Absolutely fantastic. Very inspiring. Bach and Jazz is always a great combo.
Czujesz ognistą naturę Jana Sebastiana Bacha 😃👏👏👏🔥😊
awesome. I'm writting currently studies from Chopin's studies, I finished the second one.I did the 12 opus 25 and the second is a mix between studies 1 and 9 opus 25 . I have an idea on n2 opus 10, thanks to it I discover your incredible talent !

Great Matt!
❤ I loved this from triplets to Belleville My only criticism was that it didn’t last anything like long enough on the CD and I’ve got this glorious version thank you. I really really love what you do with this.
Una palabra que describa este arreglo: "Dominio". 👏👏👏
Genial!! 👏👏

Sounds like if Kapustin, Godowsky, and Henselt had a collaboration
very nice with perfection as always🤗🙏
Another incredible re-imagining of a Chopin etude!!! Are you planning on making transcriptions of all of the Op. 10 etudes?
Thanks Jack. Yes, I've done most of op. 10, but still have a couple to do. I'm recording an album of them next month of 8 Etudes from op. 10 and 2 Etudes from op. 25. I'll post here when that album becomes available on streaming services.
@@matthersk Great to hear, I can’t wait to listen to it!
The most crazy thing here is that this recording doesn’t have hundreds of thousands of views
Thanks Michael, I appreciate the sentiment! :)
this is amazing!
Matt, is that the same piano you had in your Kew Gardens apartment?
Hey Barry! Nice to hear from you. Wow, so you remember that piano?? No - I sold that piano right before I moved to Montreal in 1999. I'm playing a Yamaha CF3S in a beautiful, intimate concert hall in a gorgeous historic building called La Chapelle du Bon Pasteur, part of which was still being used as a chapel. Sadly, it burned down nearly 3 years ago. It's a great loss for the musical community here in Montreal, as they hosted free concerts for the public and we all played on their concert series.
@@matthersk I remember that piano as being longer than a concert grand [and taking up the entire living room ;-) ], as this one also appears to be extra long.
Wonderful and ingenious!
Is it possible to buy the sheet music for this?
Hi Tania, thanks for asking. I don't have a solo piano score for this version, I only have a solo piano score for the simpler version on the soundtrack of the film Les Triplettes de Belleville. However, I do have a score of this version for flute and piano, and can make a solo piano version from that, which I'll gladly do. It's just a question of time at this point, but I will get on it as soon as possible. I can say that I'll probably have it ready in around a month to 6 weeks from now. You're not the first person to request it, but I see you're a serious musician and I'm happy you're interested in a score of this piece, so I'll get to work on it and will let you know as soon as it's ready :)
