Turbo actuator or sticky EGR valve would be my guesses. EGR valve is an easy job on those. Had this happen to me once when I had just bought one on its first long run which would have triggered DPF regen. Gave it a good Italian tune up and it never re-occurred.

I had a 2006 Mondeo 2.2 for 8 years, that had same problem with the actuator. I replaced multiple this part and never had same issue or any other issues with the motor or turbo. I am going to buy this Jag with at. gearbox since I only had a 6-speed manual gearbox in Mondeo. Ford can not compare to the luxury and design of a Jag.

Dark cherry bomb with a silver metallic roof + mirrors with mat black wheel arches and wheels just regular alloy silver. White on just red will look period correct but too outdated in my opinion.

Maybe go for a cool dark metallic red color with a beige or elephant tusk color for the roof and wheel arches? Just think about it a little, you don't actually have to go for that color combo :)

My dad had a 2017 Dodge Ram in a really nice deep metallic Red (I think it was called 'Delmonico Red') and i did think that would be a cool colour for the exterior with a tan interior - so sort of along the lines of what you're saying! Lots of choice at this stage!

The Mini Door Company based in Preston are the company to check out. Unless you fancy doing the reskins yourself. Plenty of skins and door bottom parts readily available. I’ve got a Mini Thirty, in cherry red (a lovely shade of metallic red COG is the paint code) which has 13” x 7” deep dish wheels gold with polished rims. Not to everyone’s taste if they want originality but as it’s mine I get to choose how it sits.

Thanks for the info! Now that you mention it, i think the code for the paint originally on this car was 'COG' and it had the mini 30 style wheels too, although it was not a mini 30 by designation...weird! Personally i really like Gold wheels especially on a deep metallic Red car. Its that kind of different but still cool angle that i need to put on this car i think!

Had a 2006 2.2d Sovereign Estate - 193k miles on the original gearbox, injectors and clutch. Beautiful inside and out (although did need to get rusted cills welded). Once got 75mpg on a run, and it could shift. Had to get rid off it when I broke my leg and needed an auto. But I prefer it to my newer E350d convertible - it was far better made and comfortable. Well done for restoring what would have be a future classic if not the fashion against diesels. And no - it isn't a Mondeo in drag just because they share the same chassis platform.

It's amazing how modern cars can throw up faults and codes which are nothing to do with the problem. I had an Audi A6 which was flashing the glow plug light and the cruise control wouldn't work. Turned out to be a faulty brake light switch would you believe! The brake lights still worked which threw me, but there are 2 contacts in there, one for the brake lights and the other for the cruise control and other stuff. That contact had broken. Local motor factor had one in stock, £12, same as a VW Golf I believe. Problem solved! No surprise that a faulty turbo actuator could show as a gearbox fault.

Great video, once again you have gone above and beyond, what most Dealers will do to help customers who buy older, price range cars. I sometimes think that although these peple "know their rights" maybe they would be better off buying a brand new car on a leasing agreement, instead of a 17 year old quality car, then if they had any complaints, they would be covered by the makers warranty. Not that leasing a cheap car would make very interesting TH-cam content, however you are a shining light in the car industry, a very moral man, keep up the good work. By the way I love your second channel, it shows just how tough the car trade can be at times. Motors must be in your DNA.

All very good points, thank you. As I see it, the trouble is that the modern world and its plethora of red tape, guidelines and buyer protection , whereas there is a time and a place for them, have created a generation of buyers who lack much of the common sense people used to once have. To them, buying a 17 year old 80k plus mileage car holds absolutely no risk, in fact they have virtually the same rights as someone buying a brand new car and we as dealers simply have to follow that rhetoric and bridge the gap! Who said dealing was easy, hey?!

As a former motor trader letting a car 'one' sold go to another garage is a disaster, I've done it and it's a big mistake. I've also had several X types diesels, still have a 2.2 diesel and and had similar issue power loss/EML , started using decent fuel, problem solved so I put it down to the fact the previous owner probably used crap fuel. Hi Johnny Yes you did the right thing I think! it's always good to know when you buy a car from someone like yourself, that if there is a problem you'll do the decent thing. I have a X type saloon with about 75 K on the clock. this old girl would benefit from new injectors you just need to keep them running as clean as poss etc, some people drill out the manifold and tap an M10 thread to pour stuff in the turbo I would prefer to use something like Launch DPF cleaner but not to much this will work well on carbon, but if the vaynes are free it's probably just the actuator. We are liking the second channel. Best of luck with this one! ❤The Channel👍

Sucks that the shop charge you that just for plugging in a obd2 which shouldn't have been over 25 bucks since they didn't want to actually do any work. A very valid point. I think as someone in the trade, I tend to drive with a lot of mechanical sympathy so this could potentially be why the car didn’t cause a fuss for me. That said since I’ve been using the car post actuator fit, I have been driving in a mixed manner to test everything (including harder driving), so I’m pretty confident the issue has been resolved!
