What info goes on the back of the cards? I'm planning to sell at shops, do I need any legal info on the back?

Genuinely thinking of quitting instagram as an artist, I enjoy creating art but I feel like instagram and social media in general has ruined my appreciation for my art overall, it’s worsened my self esteem and self worth so much 😭💀

I do 3d photo real renderings and I am currently quitting IG for all the reasons she listed. If your not being silly, posting adult material, or doing something to go viral then you will get no kind of attention on these platforms. Also people tend to only look at numbers on IG if you don't have a large following or a lot of likes you pretty much get ignored. People are so use to seeing these six figure following accounts that anything less is not important.

Minute 9:29 🫶🙌 Thats EXACTLY how I feel! I been trying to say the same message to everyone I know, but you said it better! I'm gonna quote you if you don't mind. May I? I'm also having strong opinions on “Portfolio” requirements when I apply to work. It's a long conversation. But to summarize: I wish hiring managers gave a change for an interview to college graduates even though their portfolio is not as good as professionals. Of course, it's not! Graduates are at the beginning of their professional journey. Give us a chance to start our career and sharpen our portfolio. Who knows you might discover a perfect match for your creative team! 😊 I understand that as an artist portfolio is like your face, your business card. But it should not be a final showcase of my skills. I sometimes forget to take a picture of my work and I just give it to the customer. So I have nothing to show. I just love to create and not be bothered by all the “keep my work for portfolio”, and “got to post it to social media”. Maybe i am wrong here… but I know that if I get an interview like tomorrow out of the blue without a portfolio on hand. I would not mind drawing something for them on the spot. And I would make sure its my best quality speed art on the spot. But people don’t have time. That's why I have to deal with a “Portfolio” requirements. By the time I get a Dream “Portfolio” that will get me hired I will be at the retirement age. Then whats the point of trying to work for someone right now. I'll just open my own thing without any “portfolio” requirements. And give myself a chance to get that field experience everyone is asking about. And help myself sharpen my art. That way I will have something to showcase on my web-sites. And I will be able to shape an actual “Portfolio”.

I admire this so much. I am at a pivotal moment in my journey and REALLY don’t want to go too far down the product road. Just a little but not too much. I also recently made difficult choices about social media but I think they are wise and watched your video on that.

I'm not saying you shouldn't quit instagram, but the fact that you got rejected by a company because of low instagram counts is proof that instagram is potentially useful to grow your career. I mean, nowadays companies are very unwilling to take a shot with an unknown artist, and a few artists leaving social media isn't going to change that. And honestly, even before Instagram, I was receiving rejection letters because my artwork wasn't "trendy", so at least with Instagram, you could potentially show companies "You may think my work isn't trendy, but look at how many fans I have"... But again, I'm not saying you need to be on Instagram. You can do whatever you feel is right for you. I'm pretty terrible at managing my SM accounts.

Hi Dee, I hope you are going to continue with your videos, I have just finished my Holiday in Scotland today. We went up to Loch Ness and around the highlands seeing lots of wonderful scenery and finished in Dumfries at Castle Douglas which I think is not far from where you are? I adore Scotland and envy you so much! Now for returning home to buckle down to lots of artwork from my photos.

Thank you so much for sharing! I’ve just graduated with a degree in illustration and am starting my own business, and I’ve always had a love-hate relationship with social media. In the past months I’ve been giving it much thought and monitoring the state of my mental health when using/not using Instagram. I agree with everything you said. It’s just not worth it. I’ll be focusing on blogging, SEO, Pinterest and good old fashioned craft markets etc - somehow I believe that in an era where AI seems to be taking over, I think there might be a shift back to the handmade and the human connection ❤

Hello, I'm an artist too that has recently left Instagram as well. Absolutely everything you say is true. It's nice to see this from an artist's perspective. Also, your art is marvelous!

I feel the exact same way! Thank you for sharing and being so honest and vulnerable. You’re worth it no matter how many times”followers” you have. I will say I have been liking Threads - I like writing-based platforms and engagement is so much better over there - kinda how IG used to be.

I can totally relate. The same thing. I had the same account and I switched. Instagram absolutely supresses me. In spite of that, I have made amazing progress. I will be leaving it as well because it just isn’t serving my business. It's mostly old friends who don't seem very supportive and just want to hate warch anywau.

I am a watercolour painter, very amateur but have sold work in exhibitions etc....was considering joining instagram to see if i could sell there, but I am very naive re social media , IT , and business (!! I can do SOME things haha ) and I had no idea of the ins and outs of Instagram ! That is crazy and highly unethical and also stupid , in my opinion, and you just saved me a lot of wasted time and effort . Strangely , I just watched a very revealing talk by a lady who researched a bit deeply re the recent (?) issues with Etsy , and I have never used either platform and now I never will. I am certain that many new innovative ideas for selling , especially for art and crafts , will arise and be wonderful. BTW... Yes Your work is really lovely and I foresee great success for you, in the nicest most honest and ethical way . Bless you.
