How did you manage the anatomy lab during 1st year if you were glued to Zoom because of COVID?
hey! do you have any other socials than youtube?
No one, no matter what you want to do in life, should major in biology unless you are independently wealthy.
I am thinking of taking Public health as a major and biology minor. Do you think thats a good combination.
Should I go to a smaller less competitive undergrad college to keep my GPA up as a premed. I have full tuition to a smaller college. My dad thinks it’s better to go to a bigger college in my town where it would cost me 20k. What is your take on it.
I’m 14 and am already studying for SATs 😂
study for mcat
@@jack3x ok 0.0
15 studying for MCAT 😂
@@cvxe5370 dammit u win. Ima start studying for UCLME step 2 then
@@cvxe5370 ok ur just stupid lol, I was joking about this kid studying for the MCAT. You will get so burned out to the point where you wont wanna study at all
Have I been mispronouncing “diagnoses” wrong my whole life? 🤔 It’s like “diagnos-zees” not “diagnosis-zees”, right? Anyway, I love general surgery. My general surgeon (specializing in hepatobiliary oncology) saved my life. Thanks for what you do! 🙌
Hi,, i am from INDIA, can u please guide me,, There are so many majors that it’s a bit confusing for me,, I wanna pursue medical line,, so i should be choosing HUMAN BIOLOGY EMPHASIS or other Biological Science majors?? And what minors should i choose..
If you wish to attend medical school in the US, then you can choose any major. However, I’d recommend choosing a major related to biology
Congrats!!
I am a UC Berkeley grad physician. I was an economics major and didn’t think about med school until late in my curriculum. I would recommend majoring in a subject that you enjoy. Being a science major confers no advantage once you get to med school. In fact, the whole idea that physics, chemistry and biology proficiency translates to clinical excellence as a physician is insane to me. Choose a passion and immerse yourself thoroughly in it. Take the skeleton pre-med requirements and you do need to kick ass in them. You don’t need to be a science nerd to get admitted to med school.
I agree, but I also disagree. You should take a major your enjoy without a doubt, at some point though you will need to learn the bio physics and chem for the MCAT.
That’s is cool Doc!!! My son will be attending ucsf med school next year.
How many years do I have to learn to be a doctor??
probably like 13 years
@@Star38-zr5twthat’s like a surgeon amount of years, for doctors prolly around 8
Congrats!!!! I have been waiting for this video forever!!! LOL. Hard luck pays off!!!
congrats man!
Congrats Adrian!! All the hard work paid off .. Woo woo!!!
Congratulations!!!
Congratulations man!
Thank you
smart guy
hey! im in 12th grade and i have physics, chemistry and math, but i don’t have bio… can i still ace pre med biology courses or majors?
I’m in the same boat except I just suck at physics
I’m thinking of the idea of becoming one but i’m 24 already!
Buena suerte!!! You got this!!!
If you took any of those classes in high school, like an AP version of the class, does that count as one of your college classes?
You most likely have to retake those classes in college
radiology is the best specialty no patient if you get older you'll hate surgery
Thank you from Yemen ❤
I’m going to make an early match call : UCSF or Stanford.
liked the vid! im applying EM this cycle. bro you're almost to 1000 subs!
You only applied to 46!? You must have had a killer board score
Awesome Adrian! Super suspenseful towards the end, and look forward to the next video! All the hard work will pay off and any residency would be lucky to have you... can't wait to watch the next one! Be safe if going out for the Super Bowl on Sunday! - Andrew
Are you going to do a fellowship for plastic surgery after?
Hey, do you have an email or any sort of media that I can contact you on personally to ask questions involving medical school because I’ve been trying to make a plan for myself but I’ve been getting confused at every turn.
Sure email me at adrianadvice100@gmail.com
Huge congrats man!
Congrats! Did you do general surgery research in med school?
Yes and currently working on some more!
Also let’s mention they are pretty lazy and with low IQs. They really have no high goals. It’s all about making money and eating food.
Congratulations! I’ve been watching your channel since you first started it, wishing you all the good luck!
Thank you! 🙏🏽 hope it’s been helpful for you
Best of luck to you!!! Latino power!!!
Really helpful video!! Thanks a lot! : )
Congrats and good luck with residency applications!!
Congrats man! Best wishes, and I wish you nothing but the best. Don’t forget about us! I hope you keep making vids 🙏
Congratulations on completing medical school and choosing your specialty! Wishing you all the success in your residency journey and looking forward to more vlogs whenever you get the chance! 🙏 I am currently a nursing student, looking towards becoming a CRNA and these progress videos also help inspire me so thank you very much! -Angie.
great video!
Good video....i am berkelely grad...1979....went 4 years..then straight to med school...i took all the classes you did....except they were on quarter systems then!....very fast paced..12 week quarters..with 3 midterms then final....you were 100%always studying for exams.....i was a bacteriology major......i agree with most of video...trying to get your breadth requirements done while taking hard core science classes was a challenge...reading books...writing papers...difficult for science/math oriented students......i will tell you that i took 4 AP courses in high school...had 3.96 gpa in high school....went to CAL...thinking im gonna just kick ass!....dude 1st quarter qas a rude awakening!....every person had the same qualifications!.....for 4 years i studied 7 days a week....no parties..no clubs...no drinking...i didnt no anyone else in my classes who did different!....it was intense!...we thought we were cool if moffit library closed but we had a key to grad rooms in evans hall to study after that!...2am! Was pretty normal for exam times and weekends!.......didnt go to football or any sports games....the thing is when you went to library...you saw everyone doing the same thing!....i saw in a college book that describes all universities...life..and what its like....for UC berkeley they said this!...." full of souless grade mongers!"...hows that...thats 100% accurate....did i get a good education ?...hell yes...was it easy?...fuck no!... you better be prepared or you will get run over...my chem 1 A class had 2000 people in it..lots of pre meds...my chem 1C( 3rdquarter)...had 800....1200 people left!...if you get a C...its over...big weed out courses there!....brutal competition..........on a positive note...med school was easy compared to UC berkelely....my study skillset was light years beyond everyone...why?..because of UC Berkelely!.....my advice......i would not recommend going to CAL unless.....1...you really love to study!...i mean 7 days a week...weekends 8am-10pm library hours...then finding more places to study!.....2....you really get off on grade competition and getting that A ..really makes you feel that all that hard work was worth it!....3.....you realize that CAL doesnt believe in grade inflation like stanford.....to get an A....it really does mean something.....and if you go and get in med school....believe me it will be so much easier then CAL!..
gold
Thank you for the vid. Did you have any clinical experience? I’m not sure if you considered the research your clinical experience or the volunteering
the other argument I think is important to bring up, esp for Latino and black communities, is historical medical mistreatment and racism. From forced/nonconsensual sterilization as recent as the 90s to exploitative medical research and other forms of systemic medical trauma, the medical system has much to do to reckon with its violent past towards marginalized populations like the Latino community. I have sooo many stories both from my family and from serving Latino communities of medical mistreatment due to racial biases, language barriers, and other forms of disenfranchisement. Thus, you can see why racial concordance between physician/patient relationships can be so crucial in trying to bridge that gap.
