Being a parent to a toddler diagnosed with autism means sometimes you get to experience things not every parent will. Like today for example, when we needed to go to the Developmental pediatrician. And you may be asking yourself, “Tara its just a pediatrician, why are you so nervous?” 🤣 well shes amazing at what she does but she asks alot of questions.. and questions make both of us nervous.
So come spend the day with us as we go through our day as parents with a toddler on the spectrum.

She works with my daughter and deals with learning difficulties and Autism every day, SO I KNOW WHERE YOUR COMING from. If you look on the staff list she is Tracey Taylor, and my daughter Laura Taylor. Tara i so feel for you, i know its hard, same routine, same meals, the hurt of lack of affection, Trust me you and Argenis are not alone. Chris x

Adult with autism here. You are so strong mama! That pb&j is made with so much love and as much comfort as a person can put in a single food. I promise im not trying to give random advice. This is the one thing i can say, extreme emotional situations "feel" the same. Happy or sad. In the happiest energy moments, learning breathing to calm the heart, "smell the cookie, cool the cookie" I had a hard time when i was little even till last year, I would swing from hyperventilation to HYPO-ventilation. 21 years old and i really only learn the real tricks this year. Stay strong mama! We all know there is no "instant fix", only compassion!💛💛💛

Hey- i am a teenager with autism and i just want to say stay strong. i know it was hard for my parents to raise me as a toddler- i had a lot of triggers but couldn't comunicate them yet, like i can now. They struggled a lot, but didnt show it to me so i allways felt loved. Remember its hard for your son too. I have very distinct memories of being young, having a meltdown and my parents just not understanding what i needed. And however hard i tried i couldnt seem to get them to know what was wrong. It does get easier. A lot easier. For both of you. By the time i was 7 i really well understood my condition and what was hard and what was not. As long as theres communication it should go smoothly. One thing though. It does get bad again. When he becomes a teenager. Going theough pubity is hard for anyone- but especially for autistic people who dont like change. Just take it slowly. As long as he knows you love him, it will all go ok. P.s he's never going to stop having that lunch
