      WRONG...the first "slaves" (kidnap victims) arrived in the New Orleans ports in 1719 one year after the territory was founded in 1718, it's documented, mardi gras "indian maskers" didn't start their masking tradition until the 1800's AFTER slavery hence paying homage to the "native" indigenous tribes who gave New Orleans runaway slaves refuge during that time, Lafayette Louisiana has a similar mardi gras "indian" celebration as well albeit not as popular as New Orleans I might add....CHA WA, COOCHIE MA! 🪶⚜️

      @tiggapee , lol, I'm quite familiar with this subject you speak of, I'm alluding to the time and history of New Orleans mardi gras Indians and it's inception in history, it would behoove you to research the history of New Orleans' participation in the slave trade, I already did before I post comments regarding such, ALSO, I operated the second Black bookstore in New Orleans on then, Dryades street (now, Oretha Castle Hayley blvd) in 1971 under the owner, Louis Harding (see his TH-cam video ,"a loud color"). New Orleans was the LARGEST slave importer in America during that time according to history.

      Well, our families must’ve went down two different paths because I am from New Orleans. I grew up there all my life until Katrina came and my family all their life. My family story ain’t like that and we’re not mixed neither plus I’ve done my research. I used birth certificates, family stories, Bibles, which you should know about the Bible part that’s what we kept our stuff at. and post offices so maybe your story and my story different so my bad for trying to tell you about your story. But I will say this, do not apply that story to everyone, just like I made the mistake and applied my story to yours. My family is full blooded and we take that as an insult and we don’t look like Eskimos either.

    Black gangs started to protect themselves from the white racist gangs (beating black people up) and the police who use to live in the communities before but moved to the suburbs but kept their police jobs in the inner cities weren’t doing their jobs. Police mostly white was criminalizing the people. The police is a big part in the gangs being created because police didn’t do their jobs so we had to create our own gangs to protect our own communities.

    Its sad to see people blame black people for their current population/situation in the “ghetto” when its mostly due to racism. Im sure those people faulting them wouldn’t want to be refused housing rights and pushed into poverty through discrimination and government sponsored programs themselves.

    The real issue is not us creating our own, doing for us, building businesses, schools or self sustaining. We are the first builders of civilization. Everyone is capitalizing off of us. The issue is and has alway been racism. Racist burning down, infiltrating our communities and businesses. The question and problem is how do we keep this from happening? How do we protect our communities, businesses and resources? How do we keep racist from sabotaging and burning down our communities? Gentrification is not black peoples fault. The government funded and supported gentrification. Are these systematic tactics happening to these other groups of people practicing group economics? Are they being oppressed? Don’t forget this government still owes us so we can rebuild our communities and be self sustainable again.

  • @RadicalforGod
    @RadicalforGod ปีที่แล้ว

    A lot of people are unaware that black people are indigenous to this land. Our people were here first, long before these immigrants. The government stole the land from the indigenous people and gave our land to the immigrants. Black people weren’t brought over here from Africa. Our history doesn’t start at slavery. This is why the government did the reconstruction era and Indian removal act. They was restructuring everything they stole from the indigenous people. There are a lot of black towns flooded under water. The government disappeared black communities, developed induced displacement, generational wealth destroyed.

    • @Lioness-Ma
      @Lioness-Ma ปีที่แล้ว

      The Carnival is a tradition we carried to the Americas over thousands of years of multiple migrations. The reason Carnival (or KARNAVAL) has been held onto so tightly by us West Indians (or Caribbeans) is because the Caribbean and South America are the lands in the Americas that our African (or Alkebulan/Eurasian/Ethiopian) ancestors reached first BEFORE going into Central to North America. Even after forming different tribes the Indigenous people were untouched by Europeans and so held onto those traditions and created more. Hence the reason for the same practices (communication, cooking, dress, headress inc. feathers, face painting, music, dancing, celebration) found in Africa. During slavery of course many brothers and sisters who NEVER migrated out and actually stayed in Africa were carried over to the Americas and the people were mixed in together. Now because the most rebellious Indigenous-Africans (who carried traditions with them) were brought to the Caribbean to be broken they were reunited with those who had migrated out over thousands of years { the African Indigenous-Americans}. Rebellious as they were many joined forces with long lost family (mixtures of both {Indigenous-African} and {African Indigenous-Americans}) fought and fled into the hills where coloniser didn't have the know how to reach, forming the Maroons. Again some Maroons (mixtures of both {Indigenous-African} and {African Indigenous-Americans}) stayed in the Caribbean and South America but fled from Island to Island, whereas others fled up into the Southern parts of Central America, which is why the Indigenous African culture and African Indigenous-American culture and mixtures of both ({Indigenous-African} and {African Indigenous-Americans}) is still so strong in places like New Orleans, it being right on the coast. Some as we know formed the Gullah and Geechee tribes and then the Gullah Geechee tribe. Harriet Tubman was able to build the Underground Railroad through all of these movements and escape routes found over decades.

Kadohadacho is recognized by the Caddo nation. Many people of African decent in Louisiana have Native blood. Wichita tribe, Natchitoches, tribe and more. Their were pyramids I'm Louisiana built by natives(TroyVille Pyramid). In the 1931 U.S. census instructions, African people mixed with Native had their race changed to Negro, look up the 1931 census instructions on race.

WE ARE TRI RACIAL MEANING WE ARE NATIVE ARAWAK NATIVE TO THE AMERICAS, AFRICAN , AND WHAT EVER OTHER RACE YOUR FAMILY MIXED WITH IN THE TIME OF COLONIZATION. Yes we Caribbean people are black its nots something we dont know. But the ARAWAK PEOPLE AR NATIVE AMAERICAN THERE ARE STILL TRIBES OUT IN SOUTH AMERICA they look exactly the way they do on our island the statues we have of the Tainos. They themselves tell stories of our history in the Caribbean. it is important we take back out history before its gets erased with nonces.. I highly sagest we do better research for the sake of our people. stop putting your own narratives... your doing the same thing colonist did trying to rewrite a false history.
