    any specific reason for choosing this over say. a typical backplate and wing?

    Hi Jon. My son dove with this BC for many years. He just purchased the new Scubapro Hydros. I have used a Scubapro Classic for a long time, but I've put on some weight and it doesn't fit as comfortably. I did find a very clean Knighthawk on eBay that I purchased. So I'll be using it for the first time on a shore dive this weekend. Thanks for your review. I'm hoping it works out for me.

    I recently picked up the Hydros Pro. I’ve been diving a Dive-Rite stainless backplate for over 20 years, and I’m looking forward to the decreased weight in my bag when I travel. I’ve come to prefer a waist strap mounted knife and I don’t like the scubapro knife location. I’ve read a few reviews reporting the knife was lost on the 1st or 2nd dive after install. A Gerber River Shorty Knife affixes easily & securely to the left waist strap, facilitating routing path of the 7 ft hose used on my primary reg. what I don’t like about it right out of the bag are the integrated weight pouches. They’re identical, meaning they’re zipper up on one side of the BCD and zipper down on the other. I’m curious to see how the zipper wears as hard weight stresses it. If the zipper fails on the zipper-down side, bye-bye weights. It looks like anything smaller than a 4# will fall right out. I’d love to see a couple more D-rings, and I still have to figure out how to mount the mesh bag that carries my 6-ft SMB. Other than that, if you like back inflate, so far I’ve found it to be pretty comfortable.

    What you were trying to do with the gases: You set the gases to "ON" which you are carrying. Those gases are used in your TTS calculations and DECO schedule. You select the gas that you are currently breathing (or the first you'll be breathing) and that one will be ACTIVE.

    Love this trip. I'll skip a night dive unless it's some type of wreck dive. Beer - I prefer to take it with me from a shore , the one ot tap is a big sh#tty.

    Hi! Whats the weight of the bcd? I saw from 2.2 to 2.7kg for a M... Have enought lift for a 7mm semidry suit with steel tank in 12° waters? I dont know what will be the "minimum" bcd lift will need: 10k 13kg, 15.. . Thanks

    • @scubajon8849
      @scubajon8849 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’m sorry I do not know the weight of the bcd. However, I have dove it with a steel 133 (around 42-44lbs) without ever needing to fully inflate. The lift is 29.2lbs/13.2kg. Using a 7mm neoprene semidry suit should increase your flotation. I’ve never used anything more than a 5mm and the floatation was ridiculous. The water shouldn’t be a significant factor but colder water actually give you more upward thrust. I hope this answers your question

    • @scubajon8849
      @scubajon8849 ปีที่แล้ว

      I personally use hose clips like the ones in the link below and I got rid of my gauges when recreation diving. I use a air integrated hoseless computer. Check out the shearwater Teric if you want the best. If you want to keep standard gauges, the hose clip works well with those too of try a retractor for your gauges. www.divers-supply.com/trident-dual-hose-holder-with-clip-black-49163.html www.divers-supply.com/shearwater-teric-wrist-dive-computer-with-swift-ai-transmitter.html www.divers-supply.com/trident-high-force-retractor-with-brass-snap.html

    I dove with them roughly 25 years ago and it was fantastic. Just as described (thanks) and the food was amazing. Part of that may be the salt air and the diving, but it was something to look forward to and to remember. Oh yeah and the diving, crew, and the group camaraderie was the best! As good as it gets. We had the funner party boat but no one was obnoxious. The other boat was a bit more serious. They weren't drinking their beer so we relieved them of it in exchange for ... it escapes me. Rum maybe. I bought my guitar as did another guy on the boat so we had little sing alongs. And even now I looked at new prices. I don't think you'll beat that. i

      Fill a bathtub of some other container with water. Then fill the bcd bladder with air and hold it submerged to check for any leaks. In my experience bcds don’t generally have too many problems. Remember if your bcd fails, such as a stuck inflator, it can be life threatening if you’re not aware or know how to handle the situation. If you have any doubts about your equipment, please take it to a professional to have it checked and maintenance performed.

      @@scubajon8849 Thanks for the tip. Will prolly blow out a lung trying to fill it manually but will definitely do what you said to check for leaks. haha

      @@prestonsawicki7517 if it is for a class, I would probably just use a weight belt. But dive rite does have some quick release weight pockets you can add that are small. Make sure you use a slide to keep it from moving around though.

      I had an air2 on mine but you can’t really teach with an air2. Also if you fly a lot, me personally, I prefer to keep all my life support in the cabin with me and you can’t really do that with an air2.
