Removing a Load Bearing Wall and Installing an Engineered Beam

We remove a load bearing wall and cut back existing framing to insert a load bearing engineered beam that will carry the load weight of the ceiling/roof. We also frame out the kitchen ceiling with a tray ceiling design that will have a stained wood accent. This engineered beam is 6" wide by 18" tall and 22' long and has to be installed one corner at a time!

    How much did this cost? I've been weighing out the cheap way for a 12x20' flat roof patio cover with torch down, vs the expensive way, doing 12x40' and tied into roof like this one is.

    Looks nice! Getting ready to build one of these. Is it necessary to have 2 layers of 1/4 plywood? What type of plywood is that? Also what do you do to seal the end grain on the edges for paint? Also, how do gain access (ie: hooking up vent pipe or unplug?)

    Nice work, mine are constructed almost the same but my last veneer on the face is a 1/16" veneer, helps hide the raw edge. Works good for stained hoods too.

      What’s up! It’s just a Makita cordless router with a flush bit. It has a bearing on the end that rides along a bottom surface. Easy to use

    Do you still have raw 1/4” edges showing on the miter? Bondo and sanding then paint should take care of it right?

      The edges were still showing, we did add bondo and sanded it down since it was a paint top. Couldn’t tell after a couple of coats of primer and sanding in between 👌

      Freedom lover The ones I’ve installed the blower is connected to the grill vent along with light and blower buttons, not sure how the blower is in the attic, but alright.
