Careful. If you decide not to pull the bed and drop the tank. You still first have to pull the wires on top or they’ll snap the ESIMD when the tank drops down because they’re short.

Removing the bed to access the fuel pump only works on a quad cab.

I regret not buying a toyota tundra now that i have this same issue on my 2016 ram. Nice truck and all but this is ridiculous for some cheap failed sensor.

The best way to work on these car is have always the service manual on hand and follow it word by word. Before doing anything on the car check that manual very carefully and yes, it needs mostly all the tools or equivalents that it is require from any job. Having all these requirements and doing repairs, pretty sure even rebuilt the engine will be piece of cake.

if i have a 98 wiring harness will this still work?

Will you be able to reach the pump by taking off the bed on a quad cab? Or is it under the cab on the quad cabs as well? Thanks

A helpful video. I replaced by a 2009 VW Passat 3.2 the PCV valve without removing the front. It is a tight job but possible to do.

You can actually heat it up with heat gun and the factory outline will become visible with tiny dots then you can just cut it with a clade.

If you have to do this job on your crew cab,listen up,DO NOT waste time lifting the bed,dropping the tank is easy,try to keep it to a quarter tank or less,if you don't fart around you can do it start to finish in 2-2.5 hours,I did it last Sunday and it was easy.

check for a ground or hot to the check engine light

I give this guy credit for the descriptions of where things are and even what not to do. I was scared to death of the bent high pressure fuel line. After taking a deeper look at the job I just removed the fuel lines which gave me access to loosen the fitting that would allow the removal of fuel rail and intake manifold. So if you are doing this job that is the way to go in my opinion. I didn't have to remove the the pump or anything extra other than the 2 lines on top and I could get to the lower fitting and it was a breeze after that. Make sure to get the orings for the fuel injectors.

Hey just a comment on the check engine light, my truck is doing the same thing with a faulty fuel sensor and that will through the check engine light. My truck has a code for a senor failure in the fuel tank

This just happened to me hahaha. I guess trying to be savvy don’t always work. I totally forgot my truck was crew cab and I did it like this in my other quadcab. Fml time to drop the tank in the morning with my bed half off. On the bright side the fuel lines will disconnect easier this way.

OMG, thanks mate! 👍 I have the same issue just appeared without no reason, but on both rear speakers, they sound, but bass no working, it works, but weak. I spill water accidently from my rubber carpet un the fron seat floor. I will look under it, seems similar issue.

Just drop the tank. Drive it down to under 30 miles on the tank and drop it.
