Thanks for viewing the video and your comment. I'm looking to share local bands with people who don't live in Shizuoka Japan.

I was photographer / videographer for the local opening act. I talked with the promoter and was able to videography their set. Mix of English and Japanese songs. Even talked with the band backstage.... cool and down to earth people. Hope they make their way back to my small town again.

I've been recording and photoshooting local Japanese bands for the last nine month and ANORAK was the headliner from Tokyo on a Japan Album Tour. I love their sound too. They also have some English songs (Basement) just posted today. Hoping they come through Shizuoka again. Even though they sing in Japanese "Music needs no translation". Hope you enjoy the rest of their videos.

Thanks for taking the time to view and comment on this video. LINKS added at the end. Each prefecture has their own trading cards and they are free. All you have to do is show up at the location and ask for the manhole card. Some places you may need to give your name, age, and you home Country or local Prefecture. While other places they just give you the card. The website is in Japanese, but if your browser has translation, you can translate to your your language to read it. Search by each Prefecture in the drop down menu you are in to make it easier. These are mostly in Furano City, they are close together all in a three block area. Just a few block away from Furano City Hall. You can get a free manhole cover trading card at the City Hall. If you are in Hokkaido, Furano area check them out.

The coast of the Tuna bowl set was 1,200 YEN about $12 US. Shimizu is 10 minutes from Shizuoka (closes major city) by local train and about 1 and half hour from Tokyo by Shinkansen.

Thanks for your honest feedback. I was working with free hand. Do not have Gimbal... YET! It's still on my camera purchase list. Hope to improve on my walking videos in the future.

It was, could not edit everything or the video could have been over an hour. Just hit the highlights of the trip only. More shorter video of the trip in the next few weeks. We are looking forward to more travels outside of our prefecture next summer.

Every city has there own special designs. There are also free trading cards. When walking most people look up to see the neon lights, billboards, buildings and people ... sometimes you have to look down to see something most people past and don't think twice about. Happy Hunting!

Golden Week is when companies close for a week and employees are given free vacation (unpaid) and can save their vacation days for later. In just happens to be that Shizuoka holds their Samba Carnival during Golden Week. The big Samba Carnival is in Asakusa (Tokyo) sometime in September.

We're glade you liked it. The art deco is on Shizuoka-City water work building. The food truck plaza next to Ogushi Shrine is something new. I only remember seeing food trucks being in Sumpu Castle Park. The Shimizu S Pulse soccer mascot sewer cover next to McDonald's was just placed there earlier this year. Yoshinoya is a great place to eat when dinning on a budget. Weather is in mid 70's low 80's... but the humidity... a whole different kind of hot.

I can see the old apartment! The building, anyway.

We're glad to be able to give you something that brings back memories of your time spent in Shizuoka. Was there any other places that you would like to see that might have changed since you left? We'd would love to hear your ideas.

@@davinhb Yuna told me that our apartment building was demolished a few years ago. They've built something else in it's place. I was actually going to ask you if you had any photos.

@@handrinjapan396 Maybe take a walk up Gofuku-cho. There used to be a great Ramen shop off one of the side streets near there. I'll see if I can find it on google earth and drop you a pin. I can think of so many places

@@davidwhite160 Shizuoka is my wife's home town and I''m still getting use to the area, but Gofuko-Cho (Dori) is the shopping street in front of Shizuoka City Hall. Our city walk Shizuoka Station to Takiwa Park is partly on Gofuko-Cho until I take the side street to the Dinosaur and enclosed Oden circle of restaurants by the police station. We lived 7 years in Yokosuka and 3 years in Misawa while I served in the military. We just moved back to Japan about 6 months ago. Next time I go to my parents house I'll set aside time to do the walk on Gofuko-Cho and the area around it. Thanks for the video idea.
