Man, I haven't seen this one since I was in 4th grade. Spoilers below for the solution if you don't want to watch the video. The magic number is 15. Put 5 in the middle square. This will make middle horizontal correct; 9+5+1=15. Put the 3 above the 5. This will make the middle vertical correct; 3+5+7=15. Put the 4 above the 9. This will make the top horizontal correct; 4+3+8=15. Put the 2 below the 9. This will make the left vertical correct; 4+9+2=15. It will also make the forward-slash diagonal correct; 2+5+8=15. Finally, put the 6 below the 1. This will make the remaining directions correct. Right vertical; 8+1+6=15. Bottom horizontal; 2+7+6=15. Back-slash diagonal; 4+5+6=15.

If A-C=9 and A can not be 9 then C=A+1….. same page so far. From there, (B-1)-A=3 or B=A+4 Finally, A+(A+1)+(A+4)=8 or 3A=3, A=1 B=1+4 C=1+1 Little less math, just as fun

Sweet! I solved it a different way using trig, actually. After working out side length x, I used those measurements to work out the angles of the triangle. The one of importance was the one you marked down, which came out to about 26.565 degrees (arcsin(5/5sqrt5)). Now since the bigger triangle is proportional we can work out that side length by 15cos(26.565), which was about 13.416. Square that and then we have our answer of 180! Might've been unnecessarily complicated and required a calculator, but it still got the work done! Honestly, I dunno why I didn't just do the proportions. I think I just really like trig lol

You can do a little preanalysis to narrow down the field. So 1+27=28, units digit is 8. 153, units digit is 3. So what number added to 8 gives either a 3 (nothing) or 13 (5).. So x^3 must have a units digit 5. At this point, it leaves only 5, which just happens to be the answer. No range-testing necessary, just verification of the result. That only really works if you know the result *is* a NN, not "can you find a digit that would make the result a NN?", because in that case you'd still have to try/test all digits that would fit the range.

I did the math so weird, i already knew the top purple was 4x4, then i used that to fugue it the yellow, 2x4, and used that to figure out the green was 6x4, then just added the widths to figure out the blue. So 4+4=8, then used the yellow to figure out it was 8x2, i got so lost after that. But yeah, how was i still correct with the numbers?
If it works it works! I think you relied on assumptions that the drawing was to scale (which it was), so that still works in this case
