AliveCor KardiaMobile 6L ECG/ EKG Device for Atrial Fibrillation- A Doctor's Review
มุมมอง 181K4 ปีที่แล้ว
The AliveCor KardiaMobile 6L ECG/ EKG recording device (available on amazon: geni.us/kardial6L )- a device that screens your heart for atrial fibrillation by taking recordings from 6 different "leads". Is it worth your money? I'm a doctor in the U.K. and this is my perspective on this Kardia device and its utility. I've included a general and simplified explanation of what atrial fibrillation i...
Contec's PM20 6 lead ecg device is way better, all the features and more without premium subscription
I have occasional episodes of SVT. I am glad to have the Kardia device to document SVT episodes and send to my doctor. Thank you for your review of the Kardia.
Here is where the BS comes in - he says check with your doctor first before touching this device. A few hundred dollars later, my doc says, without me suggesting it, get an apple watch and send me your graphs! Folks, you are your own doctor first and foremost, period, end of story! New technology is taking many doctors by storm and they always put in that line. I you have half a brain cell left, you know when your heart is acting up, gasping for air due to a large thump in your chest which you know to be absolutely abnormal and you start getting dizzy and they your check your BP and pulse and its through the roof, you don't need a doctor to bless such as device before you use it. Sadly most doctors are prehistoric age and don't even know these devices exist and look at you like you fell from the moon. Do not take this guy seriously or any other doctor making such obscene suggestions. They are just gaslighting you. Ask me how I know!
Complete and utter garbage. Threw it away in less than 7 days of usage, don't bother buying their BP machine. Its measurements are not precise. I tested it while connected to a real hospital vitals monitor and it showed way lower BP than I realistically had which is quite dangerous for someone who checks up their health at home. Ergonomically it is a nightmare. It was obviously designed by DIE hire. If you are at least a bit muscular ie. if you have defined triceps good luck fitting the device on yourself. No matter what you do there will be a pocket of air and device's cannot fill the gap resulting in error. So you will have a quite frustrating time fitting this garbage on your arm. This issue could be easily solvable if the cuff was not made semi-solid, but like I already stated this was not built with health in mind but for the sake of bling and nice application. The stethoscope fell off by itself during the night (the device was on the shelf nobody touched it)... Overall quality wise I felt like I bought 20$ Temu/Aliexpress device, but for 10x of the price.
WARNING: "BMI (body mass index), which is based on the 'height and weight' of a person, is an 'inaccurate measure' of body fat content and does not take into account 'muscle mass, bone density, overall body composition, and racial and sex differences'", say researchers from the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania.
As a chartered mechanical engineer, the review seems very impartial and genuine. On the back of it, I will invest in the 6L as I've had a number of fibrillations. Thanks Dr Munim, regards, Ian
I woke up this morning. Seems like my heart is beating. Good to go. Just saved &99.00
I have arrhythmia, just like my dad had. I think this device may help me monitor or even take the latest output to my doctor in addition to a more thorough and precise exam. Thanks for your honest appraisal.
My cardio mobile was more accurate than my cardiologists 25,000 device from Siemens so put that in your blunt and smoke it British boy
Thank you for eliminating my chances of being an EKG technician. Wasted money in an education.
Would this let my brother know if he is having another heart attack. His first attack was bad. His Dr finally let him go back to work. He was out for 2 months
We have just bought this device because my wife has paroxysmal atrial fibrillation. For our peace of mind this device is well worth the cost
but your not a woman experiencing menopause? Its best to try it on a menopausal women
The device worked great but it's pretty flimsy, the front two electrodes fell off mine. They're only glued in. I only kept it in the cushioned hard case. But they refuse to repair it and said I have to buy a new one. Try find a more durable device
I have an irregular heart beat and I have a heart murmur, will this still work for me? Because sometimes I'm curious about my heart condition instead of having to go to go to the hospital
❤❤❤❤adds. Therapeutic. Mobile's 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊 signalling. Treated😊😊😊😊😊😊

Fitbit overestimates V02 Max, but to what degree? If it's a marginal difference I will stick with the Fitbit. A little more context would be appropriate, Munim.
Very good, clear review. I cannot think of any reason why an asymptomatic individual should buy or use this (or similar devices) but for those with - or suspected of having - arrhythmias it is useful and extremely easy to use. That said some Fitbit watches (like the Sense 2) and the iWatch from Apple will detect signs of Afib while you sleep, which is particularly helpful because a lot of people with arrhythmias will not be aware of episodes during the day but these watches can provide the first alert by detecting night time fibrillation. Then it is a case of discussing with your GP (they will accept the Fitbit or iWatch alert as valid), have an ECG, possibly wear a Zio patch (seven days recording) and possibly consult a cardiologist.
I got one on my cardiologist suggestion, but when I send it to him and tells me he can't read it.
1:43 Setting up “Sex” Will be a bit tricky in some parts of the US here in America.
Brilliant review, thanks! My Cardiologist asked me if I could afford an Apple watch. I said, "No." Then he suggested the AliveCor Kardia. I'm reluctant to buy the latter because it's not wearable and my experiences with wearing the Holter monitor is that it usually misses cardiac episodes, so the ACK wouldn't be any better. I'll look to see if you have a review of the Apple watches. Cheers! 💓
much better than apple support's short TH-cam. can you make a video on how to print the apple watch eKgs into pdf s to save , print and send to my MD?
I have symptoms that are just like hot flashes, ever since a horrendous car accident. I'm a guy and I think I'm going to give this a shot.
Does it monitor PVC's
Mine lasted less than two years. They will not replace it and I would have to buy a new device. Just a warning that you might be buying a new device every two years in addition to paying for the service.
After being diagnosed with Afib I was told about this device by my cardiologist and I started using it daily. Over several months it showed me to be in Afib about one third of the time. But when I would have an EKG in his office, the results were always normal. The Kardia data persuaded the cardiologist that meds alone were not working and led him to recommend an ablation, which I got. For me the Kardia was definitely a helpful purchase, and I will continue to use it to confirm that I haven't gone back into Afib.
What is meant by "In Afib"? presence of absense of ripples in on the 2 Lead or one of the 6 leads?
Good honest review. Thank you
Just wondered if this works when diagnosed with Early Repolarization...hhmmmmm?!
professional review, nice.
Good job wearing a stethoscope in your thumbnail pic…totally proves you’re a doctor
He’s using his thumb I’m no doctor but I’m the Allie’s health and they’ve told us never use the thumb to check pulse or get o2 says since the thumb has its own pulse
Do you need a smartphone? I only have a computer.
Does this detect incurred T waves?
But how good is the tracing quality & reproducibility in general. Can I for example screen for ST elevation in a pt with chest pain Dr?
Thanks for the review! I don't know if this was mentioned lower down in the comments, but I couldn't get the 6 lead to work, either on my knee or ankle. Kardia suggests taking a wet paper towel and getting your skin moist, and that did it. As long as I wipe with a wet paper towel, it picks up that bottom sensor on my knee immediately.
👍❤ Thank you. Very helpful review sir. I'm 10 years post heart attack/angioplasty, and recently suffering from 'kicks in the chest' (missed beats?). 15 second ecg checks aren't picking it up at doctor appointments. I want to show them with this device as nothing is being done about it. Bless you. 🙏
The Health Mate App ranks among the better Health apps available. But Withings technology does not use Heart Rate Variability data, which is Withings weakness! I have changed over to use Garmin Connect, which has many other strengths and ranks also high. I like both apps for different reasons. The Withing ScanWatch falls far short of the Garmin Fenix 6X Pro or 7X in monitored data but is more stylish, if that matters. The Withing scales and blood pressure meters do supplement the ScanWatch and generates excellent reports in Health Mate App. However, the ScanWatch left me wanting for more, especially HRV data analysis! The sleep tracking could and needs to be more accurate. My Garmin Fenix 6X Pro fills in where the ScanWatch leaves me wanting. Sleep tracking is more detailed and accurate with HRV data. So, I used both the Withing Health Mate and Garmin Connect in parallel for more than a year. I liked both. But I did switch completely to the Garmin Connect App when I begun to have problems with my Withings Body+ scale and the advanced and expensive Withings BPM Core Stethoscope failed!! Withings customer support kept me running in a perpetual circle without solving my problems! The BPM Core warranty expired while in that perpetual circle!! I was stuck with it! So, it was time to buy a new BPM gauge but from Garmin. This caused me to dump Withings. It was sad when I had enjoyed using the Withings MyHealth App and had all the other Withings devices. Garmin has so far not failed me and Withings devices were replaced by Garmin’s. Garmin’s analysis of HRV data is so much superior to Withings methods. The Garmin app is more for more advanced users with analytic skills to understand what relates to what, which powers the user/athlete to take corrective action from a wider perspective. But foremost, in order to be enabled to do that: the devices and app must be unforgivingly reliable and analysis of data scientifically accurate!
Does the 6L realistically offer much benefit for the extra cost and added requirement to connect to your ankle or knee, compared to the base model that only requires the fingers?
If determination is made based on the rhythm, and not on the amplitude and waveform shapes of the different additional traces provided by the 6L, when is it recommended to get that version? Would the timing of the telltale spikes ever be different on one trace vs another?
Is this useful for someone like me with SVT. I have felt unwell before and didn't know I was in SVT. My watch couldn't pick up the fast heart rate until I put the watch into ecg mode.
Bought this to be able to take a reading when I have certain symptoms so I can give it to my doctor. Getting seen and having a 12L is a great but it's not realistic for transient symptoms.
I've got it I get AF I had a heart rate at 240 in AE Department my heart docter just not bothered
Thank you for your very nice information, doctor.
Genius. It's not the data but change in value that matter's for majority of us ! Thank you. I can keep using my charge 2 and you sir saved me $$$. :D
Commersials are always rapped up in annoyong muzak. Scientific information isnt
I got one of the original ones when I was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and bought one of the 6Ls for my wife. It stated that she had AFIB and tachycardia so she went to the cardiologist where they implanted a device to monitor her. The Kardia Mobile recently indicated AFIB again so she contacted the cardiologist to find out what the Medtronic implanted device said and according to the implant, there were no episodes of AFIB. The implanted device has shown no episodes of AFIB thus far. This tells me that you can get false positives. I would just suggest that if you get a positive reading for a condition with the Kardia Mobile that you consult a physician for further diagnosis/treatment. Mine does, however, accurately measure my premature ventricular contractions which is what my cardiologist said that I have. All I would say is that I wouldn't freak out at a positive result but would immediately follow up with your healthcare provider.
Yes it is accurate l had AFib last week is really bad went on for 5 hours had to call ambulance they did there test confirmed l have afib and took me to hospital
Can you download the ecg data as a csv file to perform statistical analysis on it? If 'yes' how long can you record?
Great review, informative. Your patients must hold you in high regard. Thank you so much.
Doctor! My doctor is useless. I have no alternative but to take matters into my own hands. I've been forced to look into private clinics for the hopes of getting better care. Thank God for credit.
this video was very educational
