    Thanks for making this video.. it's really informative.. just one concern.. I have NT Service\MSSQLSERVER as login account for SQL service.. so do I have to give explicit permission to it or it works if SYSTEM group has full control?

    Great explanation! Could I force to all client conections use encrypted connection? If the client does not check Encrypt connection on SSME, it is still able to connect. I would like only encrypt connection are allowed.

    How do you do it with a non self signed cert?

    • @rztechskills6217
      @rztechskills6217 ปีที่แล้ว

      Avoid creating a new certificate. Import the existed certificate assuming you have one already. Then watch the video to change some setting for your certificate.

    This was an informative, well-delivered video. I am very familiar with the PowerShell scripting program, and following his instructions to the letter allow me to get a working cert so I can could use my developer edition of SQL server. One caution I want to add, however. Please note use the PowerShell edition with IntelliSense so you don't have to write out those long string names for the commands is Windows Powershell ISE. You want to run that as Admin and not the other shell.

    are these 2 statements not needed? BACKUP SERVICE MASTER KEY TO FILE = 'C: ame1.key' BACKUP MASTER KEY TO FILE = 'C: ame2.key'

    • @rztechskills6217
      @rztechskills6217 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Nestor - You may avoid backing up the SMK and DMK if your concern is migrating the backup file to another server. In this case, you only need to backup the certificate and regenerate it with its' private key. However, if at any circumstances you need you rebuild your original server, it's better idea to regenerate the same SMK and DMK for any encryption.
