R30 through R34 are Skyline based cars. The GT-R originally based on production Skyline car, used to be Prince before merged with Datsun and later became Nissan. The new GT-R isn't as Nissan separated the GT-R from Skyline to be its own thing, hence it's called Nissan GT-R instead of Nissan Skyline GT-R and not based on production Skylines. However the R chassis code remains in the GT-R. The Skyline today is the V37 known in North America as the Infiniti Q50. And yes, even the Infiniti G35 is actually a Skyline.
If the S15 was brought into US, it won't be called the Silvia, it'll be still a 240SX. But if Nissan wants to revive the name again, it'll probably drop the 240SX and market it as Silvia worldwide. Nissan should bring back the S platform in this post-Ghosn (F u Ghosn) era and market the Silvia as affordable performance car. All Nissan has to do is avoid making it look like a BMW Z4 or a supercar. Look what happened to Toyota.
I mean the whole point of the Nissan Silvia back then was to be an affordable luxury car that also could drive like a racecar for the time, at the time, most faster cars looked like that, so it would only make sense for them to have the same thought in making the new one, except to actually use real vents and not make it look like a bmw, yeah😂
If Nissan decides to return the S-Chassis (200SX, 240SX, Silvia), it won't be powered by ICE. Instead it would be EV (of course we would "riot", but much better than turning another crappy and unnecessary model of SUV/CUV that the other models exist in the first place). Also, that "S-Chassis" should be still lighter, but stronger body/chassis/'skateboard' even with a safety features and more (just like what Mazda did to their Miata ND, even it is newer, it was still far lighter than the NA). Also, it depends because Nissan busy investing on EV's and other boring models + the new "400"Z & in production R35.
