In this video we go boating to Tavernier Key Sandbar from Alligator Reef Lighthouse to BBQ on the water with family and neighbors of Tavernier. We had an Epic day navigating from Tavernier Creek to Alligator Reef Lighthouse, then to Tavernier Key Sandbar, to meet with a Rain Storm and then returned to Tavernier Creek Marina. I have a 3.9ft draft. I see other bigger boats in the harbor, but how are things generally at low tide for a 50 ft boat with almost 4 ft draft?
Hi, thanks so much for watching our video! I've watched your videos too, great videos! Love your boat! Our boat has a 3.4' draft and never had any problems, but yours have the pods on the bottom. I would try to go into the Boca Chita Harbor entrance at high tide until you check your depth clearance. I think you should be fine, I've seen 40 and 50' yachts there with no problems, but you may have to check your condition to be sure. Thanks! Peace from the Keys!

When applying Teflon tape it is imperative that you apply the thread in the same direction as the threads to tighten. You put the tape on backwards so when threading it in the tape is dislodged and doesn't provide the same level of sealing.
Did i miss you checking the risers for blockages? That is often the cause of overheating.

I have winterized my boat for years but this one side drained pink and the other clear ?? I thought thermostat but then both sides would be affected . Any thoughts ?

Hi, thanks for watching our video! If you navigate in saltwater environment...and your manifolds and risers are more than 4 to 5 years old you may need replacement. Check your manifolds they have plugs on the bottom remove them and check for corrosion and rusty debris inside...Hope this helps. Peace from the Keys.

What size is the allen socket for the plugs? Also did you find why it was overheating?
Hi, thanks for watching our video! I don't remember the size of allen socket, the set is inexpensive so we bought the set, the product link is in the description of this video. It ended after the new Manifolds were installed, went our on the water and it overheated to the point of cracked block. Catastrophic Failure, worse of all we can't find out what happened. Its either, the bravo-itis or internal blockage. I even thought mechanic sabotage. It was a difficult one for me. Thanks! Peace from the Keys!

Hello! I have opposite problem... fast ride then engine stays like it has to be, but when idling then one side of exhaust manifold will go hot, but engine is still okay. I will probably take boat out from water and check the impeller in sterndrive... also probably I should check engine water pump. Lets see how it goes.

I see the use of aftermarket parts. I know they are cheap but they will not last very long in salt water. About half the life of a MerCruiser genuine part. Hate to see all that work for parts that will not last long.

In salt water the manifold plug up at the bottom. Need the flush the cooling system with fresh water. Look at the holes after removing the check valve and brass plugs you’ll see the corrosion block. 3 years is the max for exhaust manifold. You need to install a closed cooling kit to keep this from happening. Then the only you will need to maintain is the exhaust elbow. If you flush after each use that will lengthen the life of these components in the cooling system. Sterndrive and inboard engines in salt water closed cooling is a must.
