Do You Have To Rake Grass Seed In To Get It To Grow
I just seeded with ”LS” cultivars of turf type tall fescue. It’s supposed to spread. Is that true?
I did my back yard a few days ago and it seemed like I pulled out mostly dead diseased grass, some good grass and a little bit of thatch.
Is a scarifier like an aerator? Or would you Aerate still
Please you could clarify a few questions: Do you recommend applying Molasses? And which product? Do you apply it as a foliar or soil method? And under what soil temperature? Do you also apply it to cool-season grass in late fall?
i wish i saw this video before I spent 8 hours hand pulling up all the old grass by hand. By then, I was just tired and just threw seeds everywhere and called it a day. With full sun. the very top dries out while I am still watering.
Cheater!!!!😂😂😂😂 nice
useful video. .thank you
Which one has more shade tolerance? Thanks
I dunno Great video but i know two people who just threw Grass seed on top of New Top soil and it started growing fast and thick
Man, you have a video for everything!
I know this is off topic but, I noticed that watering in the evening makes my grass roots stronger and the green lasts longer in drought conditions. But the caveat is, there is much more lawn rust. My lawn will have rust almost the entire summer. But watering in the morning seems to dry out my lawn and not look healthy, but less lawn rust😂. Pick your poison. I still water in the evenings and I just dont worry about the lawn rust. I just dont wear shoes when I'm in the lawn, then I wash my feet afterwards. I figured if I get the grass the thickest and healthiest possible, I will eventually not have to water as often and the lawn rust will eventually be minimal in the future
Finally someone who knows what they are talking about with these things.
Hi good morning I’m looking at Irrigreen and in my design I’m wondering if the head can do a 1/2 circle and then go back the other direction?
I ended up just going with a mix of tall fescue, ryegrass and KBG. I have some issues with fungus but I don’t apply fungicide nearly as frequently as i should
How does sown wheat grow in fields without being covered?
Thanks the info I was looking for!
Imma have to rent some shit to airrate the dirt
Buy a sunjoe. Hella worth the investment coming from someone who bought one.
You say sun Joe..? Do you mean a dethatcher/scarifier ?
You are not messing around with the number of cores. 2.5" spacing is 25 core/in^2, two inch spacing is 36 core/si. That is a lot of holes. Depending on the goal, i would think that making more small diameter deeper holes is better than fewer larger shallow holes? I am interested in dealing with sub-surface mole tunnel damage to the roots and missing soil and also an issue with redwood roots stealing the water just under the surface. I am not really sure how to deal with the root issue, short of deep tear out and root cutting, plus re-seeding without killing the tree (which should be fine). I am hoping that deep coring will make a big difference. Also, I dont think that powered rental corers will go deeper than 3". Thoughts? Also, what are your thoughts about the various manual corers? Corona vs Yard Butler or Fiskars?
Very helpful, Thanks.
I thought you couldn’t seed until several weeks after spraying for weeds?
I've just tried this and it's pretty much pulled up half of the grass, it proper digs in and doesn't glide?
No. You’re not alone. Just means you likely have a lot of crabgrass like me.
Very well explained and makes sense. Thanks
I’m new up your channel and so glad I found you. I’ve just started to taking care of my own lawn and have a big problem? The grass started dying in one spot only and the area is getting larger. It’s not water because the rest of the lawn looks green, no grubs are found. I raked the dead grass, it looks like hay and bare dirt is showing. I will reseed but what could be causing it? Thank you
That Cat told me everything I needed to know.
Curious why you have 2 different brand dethatchers? Also, did you overseed after you dethatched?
Yeah it's a lot to ask for accuracy sake once you are pushing over 20-25 ft. I use an Otolawn that shoots over 30 feet but during the day the accuracy suffers with any significant wind, which is why I water early am. 20 feet and shorter though, it is pretty dead nuts I'm sure yours is too.
yep, on those shorter distances of 15-20 feet the unit does great almost always and especially in the 5-15 foot range the unit is crazy accurate during most all normal conditions. And you're right, everywhere I've ever lived the wee hours of the morning tend to be the calmest of the day. I've actually wanted to get my hands on an oto too to compare performance. I reached out to the company to see if they'd send me one but it looks like I'm just a small fry and I'll have to buy it LOL. My thought is that oto can water over a low obstacle while an Irrigreen can't. For instance a single Oto should be able to hit the lawn on both sides of a driveway or sidewalk without actually hitting the sidewalk, while an Irrigreen would need a head for either side.
I appreciate this video. Exactly what I was looking for.
I didn’t know carb loading the lawn would build it up like going to the gym
Bonjour une petite question me titille, faut-il scarifier avec les lames avant d’aérer avec les griffes ou l’inverse ?
Just double checking, the very next day after roundup, you are already overseeding the area? I'm running into this issue that I know what to do, just not when to do each step...
Do a chinaberry video
Great video
U need to clarify the use of sand. I reel mow and wouldn’t use any of these sands. Instead, I use PGA quality sand. Zero pebbles! Which ruin ur blades
how much do you pay per cubic yard for PGA sand (#10 to #200), and where about do you live? It is over $150/yd in San Jose. You need about 1cyd per 1000sf per 1/3"
Being coarse, is it hard on bare feet?
Thinking of doing blackout
Huh?
so this is a re-up and STILLNO LINK TO A RAKE ? 🙄
So basically, if you have store brand, 50-in-1 fertilizer like 90% of us, you have to put it down after seeding. But, if you have each individual chemical, then just follow what this guy just said.
Spike.
Thanks man
No nonsense! Thanks
Grüße an die Homies
My lawn's pH is between 9 and 10, depending on where I measure it. This is going to take a while ...
Thank you, explanation is direct and straight forward. Thanks 🙏 ❤
Having trouble here. Ground is so hard for the core aerator to penetrate and dirt is always stuck and I have to unplug it every time. What do I do.
Use dish dawn soap(non-bacterial or plain version)/ OR baby shampoo. This moistens up the soil for intaking moisture and water 💦. Also add newer top soil to help. Try detatching prior to, to loosen up the dirt.
Thank you! Useful
Have you used liquid dethatcher?
The SENIX 13 AMP with the 15-Inch blades actually do remove taches that are as thick as 5 inch.
I over seeded my lawn three days ago without covering it. Have a bunch of bare spots that I seeded as well. Now I'm regretting not covering it. We've had a ton of rain since then, so it has stayed moist. Can I still cover with peat moss? Or should I start over and cover it the second time around?
What would you recommend after dethatching? I mainly have tall fescue, and I have a few bare spots in my yard. I was thinking of throwing down Kentucky Blue Grass seed in those spots and fertilizing the entire lawn afterward. I'm looking at a weed and feed product because I have some crabgrass in the yard as well, but most say don't apply for 3 weeks after seeding
In shorter terminology, will fertilizing with a 20-0-3 product help fill in my bare spots or do I have to seed first?
