Crystal Spings Golf Course - Tough (for me) Bunker Shot
มุมมอง 121วันที่ผ่านมา
Crystal Springs Golf Course Hole No. 13 Today it was playing 143 yards downhill. I hit my 9-iron and it was about 10 inches away from a decent result. Unfortunately my ball landed in the bunker, just under the brow on the top edge, and ended up as a fried egg. Unfortunately I was unable to get a good stance on the ball and had to hover from above. Finding Hoi San - Having Lunch In Chinatown
มุมมอง 27721 วันที่ผ่านมา
A friend Vivien recommended we try a nearby restaurant called Ho Mei on Waverly Place. Unfortunately we were unable to find it, so I asked a random pedestrian if she understood Hoi San Wah (to which she confirmed). I asked if she knew of a restaurant called Ho Mei. She pointed directly behind me at a restaurant called Spicy Shrimp, and said it was the same place!

    Never understood why people say PCCBs don't dust. How could they not? They still work by friction.

    • @kaidoi888
      @kaidoi888 วันที่ผ่านมา

      They actually were very good, up until I started tracking the car. Once I started to overheat the rotors on track, they started to delaminate, which turned them into cheese graters. And they chewed through my pads which caused the excessive wear and dust. For street driving, they were always fantastic with no dust. If you’re going to track PCCB, you’ll need a big budget.

    It's been awhile, but I played Sharp Park. I love MacKenzie courses. It's a shame the City had to build a berm to protect the course from the ocean.

      The first time I played Sharp was in 2004. Then the next time I played was July 4, 2024 (20 years). Was the berm installed prior to 2004? I honestly don't remember the course at all from my first visit.

    Just noticed that you share the same surname, 趙, with Qin Shi Huang & the Song Emperors! Use Wiktionary to find the meaning of the other characters, if you don't already know. If you ever wondered what your Dad's village looks like; 台山百曉, HoiSan Bak1 Hel1, Taishan Bai Xiao in Mandarin, www.youtube.com/@TaishanBaiXiao has a video of it; if your father was from 斗山鎮,浮石村; th-cam.com/video/S1JVvFWRfHs/w-d-xo.html In Hoisanese, 斗山鎮 = eu2 san1 zin1 or DouShan Zhen (Township) in Mandarin; 浮石村 = fui3 siak4 tuun4 or FuShi Cun (Village) in Mandarin. 斗山 , eu2 san1, means ladle mountain; while 浮石, fui3 siak4, means "floating stone" or pumice. Here is the link for Fui3 Siak4 Village on Google Maps: www.google.com/maps/place/Fushicun,+Taishan,+Guangdong,+Jiangmen,+Guangdong+Province,+China,+529224/@22.0486192,112.8447502,13z/data=!4m6!3m5!1s0x3401c2f9d286cce1:0x4b9ec25f7f49f0a8!8m2!3d22.0486!4d112.85505!16s%2Fg%2F11c6159hxl?entry=ttu Although Hoisan is lush & wonderfully verdant; because of massive depopulation, many houses are in ruins, which is heartbreaking. Bak1 Hel1 has accepted many commissions to find the ancestral homes of the Diaspora. Because he is a native of Eu2 San1 Township, he may provide some details for free, before setting foot in your father's house. His contact information is posted in his videos.

    GREAT VIDEO, Ray! I think you and Emily are BOTH CORRECT! Both my parents immigrated from a village in Tai Shan(my Dad around 1920 and my Mom after WW2). so I grew up in Seattle with Toi Son as my first language. Because Seattle Public Schools in the 1960s had no Special Programs at that time to aid non-English speaking Students, they purposely scaled up speaking English around the home, so I could become more proficient with my English skills. Although I can still understand someone speaking Hoisan, I no longer speak it very well now and there is no one in the home that I can practice speaking it with. Also both my parents and grandparents have passed on, too! I met this waiter at a local Chinese Restaurant, who did speak Hoisan and he told me that on a recent trip back home to China, he already found very little Hoisan being spoken there!

    I love hearing about your family histories! I am impressed by how well you can speak. Speaking is harder for me, but I understand everything you say. Not bad for a 4th generation jook sing. We must give all the credit to the grandparents for giving us the opportunity to learn Hoi San Wah.

    I love the Chinglish with "zoom call" and "before" and "mm hai face to face". That's how my Grandmas and I spoke to each other! I am also amazed how many nuances in pronunciation there are in Hoi San Wah. Even within families, people pronounce things a little different. For instance, my paternal Grandma spoke more like you guys, and my Grandpa and the rest of the family spoke with a different "accent". I've realized that our accent is closer to Cantonese, for instance we say ngo instead of ngoi for I, or sup instead of sip for the number 10 etc.

    I am third generation borned hoisan girl from Malaysia. My late mother also cooked vegetarian lunch for the family every first day of the Chinese New Year. We are not allowed to wash our hair and also not allowed to cut our nails. We must wear our new Chinese New Year clothes! My mom also return two oranges to visitors because my mom said everything must be in pairs in our Chinese culture. My paternal grandparents are Hoisan and my maternal grandparents are Cantonese so therefore I can speak both Hoisan and Cantonese. Thank you very much for your video! I feel so happy hearing you speaking Hoisan.❤

    Are you still happy with this purchase?

    • @kaidoi888
      @kaidoi888 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. Two things: 1. The price makes it a great buffer to protect the underside of the bumper cover. Many 981 Boxster and Caymans I see on the streets have scrapes on the right-front from entering steep driveways. 2. My splitter is no longer a 3-piece, but rather a 1-piece now. The screw heads have been slowly getting ground down from the driveway entry scrapes. I never had the chance to replace the screws, and on a recent spirited high speed drive, one of my friends saw the 3-pieces separate, and the lower two center pieces broke off and shattered into bits and pieces. It still looks OK and adds some protection. As for the current aero benefit, I’d say it’s negligible.

    Tonight, I made the mistake of cooking and trying to eat this blob of processed garbage. As noted in the video, the chicken is not strips, unless by "strip" they mean it will strip away all of one's self-worth and dignity. As I'm poor and paid a fair price for this 'meal', I forced myself to eat three tortillas filled with this affront to human sustenance. I regret that choice. I need an exorcism for my mouth.
