    • @GiveaSitDogTraining
      @GiveaSitDogTraining หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@miragedown first off I would start in a boring environment, a 5 month old is bound to find lots of things distracting. Second, have the BEST high value reward, whether that be really good treats like beef liver or a really fun toy to use as a reward. And lastly only train for a short (5mins max) amount of time, twice daily at the most. Any longer and both you and your pup are bound to get bored or frustrated. Dogs going belly up does not mean they are uncomfortable. In fact, its the quite the opposite. It means they are comfortable with showing their most vulnerable area to those around them.

    • @GiveaSitDogTraining

      @@ginofalche9857 you have to take the entire body into context. Belly up could be comfortably, it could be conflict avoidance and it can be an a dog who’s uncomfortable. Why the double leash?

    • @GiveaSitDogTraining
      @GiveaSitDogTraining 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good question. The lead I have is 16 ft long, with two attachment points. When I walk him in a park, where there’s no cars, I give him the whole 16 feet of the lead. But when walking on the road I attach one point at the front of the harness (chest) and one on the top of the harness (shoulders) so he only has 8 feet of lead. The front chest attachment point also helps minimize the pull reflex (the opposition reflex) so if he does pull to the end of the lead, he moves to the right side instead of feeling the lead pulling him back. It won’t stop pulling but it definitely helps minimizes the frustration he would have felt if only attached to the back shoulder point.

      @@mind_haze2414 unfortunately I don’t. But what I can recommend is searching for a trainer on FearFreePets.com, since the trainers who get fear free certifications usually are also force free or R+ trainers, which is what my style of training is considered. His emotional manipulation is at the heart of how he justifies his “training” methods which are recognized as “appalling, abusive and ineffective” by the vast majority of professional dog trainers and by the following leading industry professional organizations: The American College of Veterinary Behavior, ABT Council, RSPCA, British Veterinary Association, The American Kennel Club, Animal Behavior and Training Council, Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers have all issued public press releases expressing their concerns and disapproval of Augusto Deoliveira AKA Dog Daddy training.

      @@GiveaSitDogTraining She was my companion at play and leisure on land and by my side at work at sea. She even knew that if it wasn’t a rough day her mess wouldn’t be washed away by the action of the water through the scuppers. (cutouts in the rail where the water is able to drain off the decks) So would give me a quick woof, then once she had my attention would seem to sneeze several times while wagging her whole back end 😂🤷‍♂️ (never worked out why) so I could clear it up. Then the crew wouldn’t have to deal with it stand in it or worse kneel in it as they attended to the nets after each haul. If we were had working cockles, when the tide had ebbed away to leave a huge sandbar to play on, she was in heaven. She would run miles to visit each boat in turn for a fuss and a treat, then would amble back with a full belly, get a freshwater wash down, shake then snuggle down and snore like a horse 🤣 I’ve not got another since, as I’m now unable to go to sea and therefore not physically able to train one properly. • @GiveaSitDogTraining

      Absolutely! My point here is that the dogs drive isn’t just to have the toy, rather work for the game. He started off getting a toy reward then ignoring any cues from me. So we built up the value of the game rather than just receiving the toy…that way I can give him a continuous rate of reinforcement 😊
