It's interesting that this depressing episode was William Shatner's favorite one. If I were to pick a NEXT GENERATION episode that closely rivals this, I would have to say THE VENGEANCE FACTOR. Riker goes through a similar trauma. And we can scarcely blame him for feeling devastated in the end. In fact, I'd go as far as to say, that's the best NG episode that revolves around RIKER.

I love the clips of other characters obviously shipping it. It especially works with Anathema, because in the book, when Aziraphale and Crowley give her a ride after she hits them with her bike, she’s briefly worried that they might get inappropriate with her, but after seeing them interact with each other, she concludes that she had nothing to worry about. She figured out they were in love after knowing them for MINUTES.

Till now, the videos with him where more on the "cute, adorable and silly side", though I love them too, these (your) cuts with him being "grumpy" but still secretly in love are a refreshing kind of adorable ❤ I just maybe discovered another "secretely in love" scene when I watched season 1 again: He is standing with Crowley on the walls of eden, they watch Adam and Eve walk away. Crowley wonders about gods way (the apple tree and all was not so fair etc). Azi tells him they should not think about it, it was the great plan which is ineffable. He tells Crowley as if it was just by the way and not important. He looks a bit annoyed in this whole scene. ((another theory: Because Crowley forgot his former existense as an angel and maybe forgot Azi too? That is why he is not in a good mood at first? Just a speculation)) In the last episode he tries to convince Gabi to stop Armageddon (and again an Adam is involved, though not an Eve). Now he tells Gabi that Armageddon is the great plan, but he questions if the great plan was also ineffable. Ah, why did I just now see the parallels? He looks a bit grumpy in the first episode, as if he was not really listening to Crowley and just wants to shut him up a bit (the great plan is ineffable, nothing to discuss), but he did not even listen to Crowley but is also in the last episode questioning, if the great plan really was ineffable. As if he was secretly thinking about, what Crowley told him (that moment in episode 1). So in retrospect this scene in the first episode looks even more like "in love but does not wants to admit it". ❤
