    Can you put a D tuna on it?

    • @paulsguitarcave
      @paulsguitarcave 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you pull up on the trem when you play, to stop the D Tuna banging on the top if the body ideally there needs to be a recess for it, though I have seen people using a D Tuna on recessed trems without one so you would have to try fitting one and see if it would work on your particular guitar. If you never pull up on the trem or have it blocked in such a way that it can on be pushed down, In which case it would probably work as long as the D Tuna doesn't touch the body.

      Thanks! I have one of the first year Synyster Gates Schecter guitars that my best friend Pete Rossi won on the almost easy guitar contest 15 years ago and it was autographed by the whole band including the rev before he died. I now have that guitar and I tried putting the Dtuna on it and it only goes down a half step I guess because they had mentioned if it’s a tremolo that goes both ways and it’s recessed it won’t work right. An article I read says it has to be mounted on the body of the guitar so I didn’t know what to believe. If you’re into Avenged Sevenfold you should check it out Pete Rossi Avenged almost easy contest. We find out about the contest two days before and we came in first place throughout the whole world.

    You did not show us how to change the tempo in the bluetooth app for the drum machinee?? only thing i was interested in. Hopefully it can be done with a slide rather than a tap tempo ??????? any info ????

      @plbown 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for your comment. You are right, I actually didn't adjust the speed of the drum machine in the app. Obviously tapping the 'Tap' button changes the speed but I don't remember if there's a slider function like some of the other controls have. I don't have this amp anymore. It was great but I needed a bigger amp for gigging so I had to move it on. Apologies for missing that piece of info out in the video, I do try my best to be as complete as possible but when amps are this complex things can be accidentally omitted.

    It's weird cuz they call this guitar a pro series but yet it's made in China ? Pro series are usually made in Mexico I thought . Either way there's no way in hell I'm paying that much for a guitar made in China .

    • @paulsguitarcave
      @paulsguitarcave 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The bolt-on neck Pro Series guitars used to be made in Mexico (have to check if they still are) and the through-neck Pro Series guitars were made in Indonesia. They have shifted at least the through-neck production to China in the last few years. With the way things are going US and the high end Japanese guitars will become so expensive that the only affordable guitars will be made in countries like China. For companies it makes sense because these days the bulk of their income is from the Chinese and similar made instruments so they will focus their efforts on that end of things and the US and Japanese instruments will occupy the more aspirational price bracket. At least this is the way I see things going.

    • @paulsguitarcave
      @paulsguitarcave 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @eoinjames4018 The Pro Plus series are also Chinese made. They are a bit more expensive than the SL3M Rainbow Crackle but between the two I would suggest that the Pro Plus is the one to go for. In my view they represent better long-term value as they are fitted with stainless steel frets and will save you on the cost of fret dressings and ultimately refrets in the future. The build quality looks very good too. However price-wise they are not that far away from one of the Japanese made Jacksons. The odd thing is that those and even the USA Soloist don't come with stainless steel frets or Jescar EVO gold frets which are also much harder wearing than normal nickel silver frets. Neck shape on the Pro Plus I found to be more pleasing than on the SL3M Rainbow Crackle which actually feels a bit thicker than it actually is due to its profile. Overall I like the look of the SL3M but the Pro Plus beats it for me on those fronts. As for whether it's worth the money for a Chinese made guitar, that's a personal judgment but my take on it is if the guitar is well made and feels good it's fine. I've tried many expensive Japanese and American made guitars that left me feeling cold and between those and a Chinese made guitar that looks and feels great what do you choose? The thing I would say about Chinese manufacture is that it's still not quite as consistent as USA and Japan in my opinion. That's where I think the difference is. However, as time passes I think we'll see Chinese made guitars at this price point become the norm as Japanese and American made guitars become prohibitively expensive and fall into the aspirational category where high end guitars today currently live. I heard something about Mexico being the next destination manufacturers, not just of guitars but generally, are now considering as a viable place to build their products due to various reasons, so in the future it's possible that we may be seeing more guitars being made there if what I heard comes true.

    Thank you for an excellent review. In every other review I watched, I could not tell if I was hearing the sound of the amp recorded with a microphone or not. My guess is that many of them were recording from the XLR out. One reviewer even stated that the audio on the video was from the stereo XLR outputs. My concern was that perhaps the amp had no real bottom end, but in your video I did hear bottom end and could see that you did not have XLR cables plugged into the back of the amp. Mind if I ask what kind of mic you used to record the audio?

    • @paulsguitarcave
      @paulsguitarcave 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for your message and kind support! Indeed you are right that sometimes it can be hard to know what's going on in certain reviews with rgard to how things are recorded. In the case of this amp being recorded from the XLR outputs will not give you any idea of what this amp sounds like through its own speakers. When I review amps I like ti mic them, in this case I simply used a Shure SM57 in front of one of the speakers and that is what you are hearing. The EQ in the recording softwarewas left flat (no boost or cut in any frequency), only some limiting was added to catch the loudest peaks in the playing so the recording didn't distort. What you are hearing is th amps actual sound as best as I couldcapture it . I can say for its size this amp has a good amount of bottom end and with the add on bluetooth adaptor makes a decent bluetooth speaker too. I hope that helps. If you have any more questions please feel free to ask.

      Rhythm tempo can be done from the app via the app tempo function there as I recall. I think it can be also be manually entered but i'd have to check (its been a while since I went into the app). As for the looper function I did cover that but somehow that section got lost in the editing process, apologies for that!

    Was looking for rhythm tempo changing from the app. Or is it only controlled by tap tempo? Also , using the looper with the pedals available from Boss. I don't think you touched on either. Lots of good info otherwise. Also I have a Blackstar 250w extension cabinet that can be used as a powered active or uncovered passive speaker. I wasn't sure if I could take my Boss Lx DI output into the active port? Any suggestions

    • @paulsguitarcave
      @paulsguitarcave 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you are looking for automatic tempo changes as a backing track plays the LX won't do that as far as I recall even from within the app. You can change the tempo manually within the app as you can also change the drum groove from there. I actually did have a section talking about the pedals that work with the looper but somehow that part got left out in the edit, apologies for that. Given that the Di out can be connected to a mixing desk I would think it would be fine to connect it to your extension cabinet. Best to go into a Line Input socket. Just make sure all the volumes on everything are set low when you try it! Let me know how it goes if you try it. By the way the output level coming from the Dual Cube LX Line Outs can be adjusted from within the app. Good luck!

    Great information can you please tell me what the neck is like because information is scarce and contacdicory on most sites and reviews. Is it c or d shape is it thick or thin, I even reached out to Jackson who informed me that they have not got that info on there Chinese models ......madness on a £1000 guitar

    • @paulsguitarcave
      @paulsguitarcave ปีที่แล้ว

      I totally understand the problem of lack of information about neck shape and thickness. The guitar I have I would say has a D shaped neck, it has rounded sides with a flatter portion in the middle, giving it the classic Jackson 'shouldered' feel. Thickness wise, it's a little thicker than the current USA models which feel quite slim but actually have a rounder back shape to them. This guitar's neck shape is more in the area of the Charvel Pro Mod range (maybe a hair thinner) but with the more shouldered Jackson shape, so not a super slim shredder neck but not thick by any means either. Think in the ball park of a slim modern USA Strat but with the Jackson shape. Of course this is the only one of these guitars that I have played so I don't know how much variation from guitar to guitar there will be though Jackson and Charvel are pretty consistent in that regard. I hope that helps.

      @@eoinjames4018 No problem at all, happy to be of help! I would suggest that the SL2 will have the same neck shape as the SL3M Rainbow Crackle I have pretty much. As you said, it's made in the same factory, and production line most likely. Let me know what you think of it when you get it. I hope you like yours as much as I like mine.

      Will do Paul.. I fell the most important feature of any guitar is the neck profile, the hardware and electronics are secondary because the neck is the only part that your fretting hand feels and can decide for you in seconds weather it's the guitar for you

    • @eoinjames4018
      @eoinjames4018 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Paul Well got the sl2 Mercury red yesterday and the neck is very comfortable but while it's thin (19mm 3rd fret 21.4 12th fret ) its got very big shoulders so has a bit of beef to it which is abit of a disappointment, its the same thickness at sides as it is at the back so not a nice transition

      "Yes, no problem. They are pretty bomb proof and hold their value. Plus Roland/Boss don't have anything now in the same price range (apart from the Katana Mini) in terms of desktop amps that you could buy The Dual Cube LX costs a lot more and a lot of reviews have said that the sound isn't as pleasing though that's subjective. Don't think you'll have any issues buying a new but discontinued amp, Roland would still have to honour the warranty and depending on consumer law in India your purchase may be covered there too. The bottom line is if you like it, go for it."

    Just thought you'd like know but I just found out this pedal has a secret 3rd mode, which is where both modes can operate at the same time. To achieve this what you need is to plug an expression pedal in to the remote socket. Rolled all the back for Crunch Mode, all the way froward for Lead Mode, but half cocked it will turn on both modes at the same time. Also as a result both of the LED colours will illuminate giving a yellow colour from the indicator LED. It sounds how you'd imagine, a blend of the two. So maybe it's a 3 in one pedal?

    Had this bass for a while and I liked it until I got a second bass which is a Schecter. Overall the JS2 is a good instrument, quality was OK - haven't spotted any flaws, though the matt finish and plain design made it feel... raw? It's a simple shaped bass that doesn't attract too many looks, but that maybe a good thing for some folks. It needed a basic setup out of the box, mine was buzzy too. Sound wasn't bad, but considering it's fully passive, the tone lacked some punchiness, the output isn't that hot as on active EQ basses, but that's to be expected - you can always add a preamp. And I would keep it and was planning on adding an active EQ, but what I very disliked about this bass was its shape and size. The body is cut very flat and sharp, there was almost no rounding made to it so it digs into your body when playing. The neck is wide at the nut (42mm) and very thick. I much prefer bases with 38mm nut and with thinner necks. JS2 would be a good choice for a cheap but well made (again, it was without any flaws in finish) practice/backup bass, but the shape threw me off each time I picked it up after playing on a much sleeker Schecter Stiletto Stealth.

    Are you sure that the regulat fly 3 extension speaker is the same as the guitar one? Bass speakers have a bigger rubber edge as bass frequncies vibrate more, bass going through a guitar speaker will not sound good and can damage them.

      According to Blackstar the extention speakers are specially designed for Bass and Guitar frequencies.
